Picture it: Salem. 1983. A tall, dark and handsome bad boy rides into town on a motorcycle and upends the lives of all its residents. He also cements a permanent place in the hearts of viewers for decades to come.

With a brief stint on As The World Turns under his belt, Peter Reckell forged his path to daytime royalty as the bad news little brother of fan favorite, Roman Brady on Days Of Our Lives. But it wouldn’t take him long to carve out a lane of his own. Over the next 40 years, Beauregard Aurelius Brady would become a beloved and integral part of the NBC sudster whether his character was on screen or not. From the shock of Bo’s true paternity to one — if not the — greatest daytime love stories of all time, Peter humbly credits the writing for his character’s longevity and popularity. But we know that the writing would mean little if the portrayer was anything less than iconic.

TV Source Magazine was honored to sit down with Peter Reckell to discuss Bo’s return to Salem, who he is eager for his character to reconnect with and if Bope fans can expect immediate gratification or just a tad bit more torture.

In previous interviews, you mentioned that the vibe onset at Beyond Salem felt alive again in a way that it wasn’t during the end of your previous runs. Now that you’ve returned to the main show, how would you describe the onset vibe now compared to when the show aired on network tv?

We have a little bit more freedom now that it’s on Peacock. So that helps. It’s more freedom in terms of storylines, as well as more freedom in regards to both language and content. So that kind of opens things up for you as an actor. When I first started on Days, especially with the character I’m playing being so “out there” with his emotions, my language sometimes needed to be curbed. But nowadays it’s nice to have that freedom as an actor to express those emotions.

The show went through, as all of us, some pretty incredible things with the pandemic. The results of which remain with us. For the show, production became much more streamlined. So as an actor, you really have to be prepared when you go in. You don’t get a lot of rehearsal.

For me, it’s been different than everyone else’s experience because I’m coming back and I’ve got this atmosphere of friends both in the cast and crew. For example, the other day I finished a scene and I went back to pick up a prop behind a set. I heard one of the cameramen say to the other cameraman, who was new, “Hey, it’s so great to have Pete back. He really knows how to help us out.” I was like, “Oh my God, I couldn’t get a better compliment from somebody on the crew than that.”

So yeah, it’s been great to be back on the show.

Based on all of the press surrounding the move from NBC to Peacock, a big factor in the decision appeared to be how well the Beyond Salem franchise performed. You’re no stranger to the growing online soap genre. How did it feel knowing that you were a part of moving the soap genre into the future on a new platform?

That’s kind of hard to talk about without sounding a little bit egotistical, but it feels good. They asked me if I wanted to be part of the Emmys, and I was like, you know what? That’s a whole political thing. I’ve already gotten my accolades, but just being there and seeing the show being picked up through its 60th year, and people in the crew saying, “Hey, it’s good to have you back. you’re helping out the show.”

That’s enough for me. I don’t need to get an Emmy or anything. Just the day to day emotions from the cast and crew is better than anything else.

Some fans were initially apprehensive about the move to Peacock, but it seems like the actors have really enjoyed it. Have you felt any big differences in production from NBC to Peacock?

When I was doing the stuff in heaven, they had me swear a couple of times and I was like, “I don’t think I can do that.” It was difficult for me. However, I think I did a couple of times on this go around, but mostly because of where my character is at the time. Bo’s been through an awful lot and done some crazy things. But this go around is unlike anything that he’s been through before.

I think the audience is going to be glad to see him, but also shouting, “what the heck is the matter with you” while throwing things at the TV. So it’s going to be quite a ride.

As Bope fans, we have to admit that we have been through quite a bit over the decades and we never really got our happily ever after that so many super couples have received. What would you like to say to the Bo and Hope fans that never gave up and where can we expect their story to go?

Photo: JPI

For Bo and Hope, their best love stories are always ones where the circumstances keep them apart and they are struggling to get back together. That’s what we have coming up here as these circumstances will keep them apart but obviously you know their love is going to carry them through.

To have fans who — you know, fans just doesn’t seem the right word, they’re almost like friends who’ve been there, and it’s because of them that this couple has survived.

I mean, it’s crazy. I first left the show over ten years ago [in 2012]. I came back because Bo’s absence was really felt strongly by the audience. They didn’t have a chance to really say goodbye. So I came back for that stint, where Bo passed away [in 2015], so that the audience had a chance to say goodbye to Bo. At the time we thought that that was going to be it. There was so much uncertainty with the future of Daytime. We are one of four shows left, and who knew what was going to happen to Days of Our Lives? But despite all the odds it is still going, and now we’ve gotten picked up and we’re going to make it to the 60th anniversary, which is astounding.

So when I left the show, I didn’t know that I would have an opportunity like this to come back.

The reaction from the audience to Bo and Hope coming back is just breathtaking to me. We’ve had amazing storylines and I’m pretty excited to be back and to see what else they can come up with for Bo and Hope.

It’s been over fifteen years since you last appeared in a scene with Brandon Beemer’s Shawn-Douglas and you have never shared a scene with Victoria Konefal’s Ciara. What was it like getting to work with your on-screen kids?

I have been so lucky to work with some amazing actors. I actually had an idea about presenting a storyline for Ciara and Bo because the audience reaction to that relationship is quite large. She’s just an incredible little actress and I would love to work with her. To be able to bring in this older audience that I have and combine it with the younger audience that she has I think would be wonderful.

In the past, Bo’s had very multifaceted relationships from Mrs. H, his mother, Pops, his brother and his sisters. So it’d be awesome to be able to work with my family, specifically my kids again.

On May 3rd, 1983 the character of Bo Brady debuted on DAYS and immediately became a fan favorite. What about the character do you think has resonated so much with fans?

You know, if I could answer that question, I’d probably be a very rich producer. Most of it had to do with the writing. The writing was multifaceted and had storylines that were rather long. You’d have arcs that were six to eight months long. One of the biggest being the storyline revolving around the prisms and our trip to New Orleans.

Honestly, Kristian and I just gave everything we had. We worked really hard. We both had a similar work ethic. To this day when we get together, we’re like, okay, how can we make this work? And what can we do? It’s that respect for each other. So when we look into each other’s eyes on screen you can see that. I think that’s what really pulls people in. When we have that close up just on our eyes, there’s no faking the audience out. It’s got to be there, and hopefully that’s what the audience will see in this go around, too.

As previously mentioned, your character quickly became a fan favorite and really took off in 1984 when Roman Brady “died”. The then final scenes that you shared with Wayne Northrop are still highly regarded for your performances. Was the dynamic between you and Wayne similar to that of Bo and Roman?

Oh, absolutely. And it wasn’t just Wayne, you know, it was James [Reynolds] and Deidre [Hall]. I was thrown in with these icons of Daytime. I had done my two years on As the World Turns, so I knew a little bit about Daytime television. But to be thrown in the mix with these powerhouses was a learning lesson. They helped me along quite a bit. I learned an awful lot from them, and Frances Reid. The Bo and Mrs. H. relationship was one of the more important relationships in Bo’s life. I was extremely fortunate to work with those people and I learned an awful lot with them.

Bo has had many great loves in his life. What was your reaction when you learned that Bo’s ex Megan Hathaway would be behind his return?

It’s perfect, you know, especially with the ultimate Daytime villains no longer there. It just makes sense, especially the fact that Bo and Megan had a relationship pre-Days of Our Lives. So it’s just perfect for the writers coming up with that. It’s a perfect segway.

Recently, we sadly lost John Aniston who played Victor Kiriakis, Bo Brady’s biological father. What was your favorite memory of working with him?

Yeah, that hit me hard. I didn’t even realize how much he meant to me. Having my father pass just recently, and when I found out John passed it hit me pretty hard.

I think the best compliment you can get as an actor is when you hear “I didn’t catch you acting” and that’s what it was with him. You could never catch him. He just was.  Looking into his eyes when I was on set, I never saw anything but my father, or at the beginning this asshole who mistreated my sister, he just was. Every day I’d go in and work with him in his dressing room and he’d have a couple of jokes, always a couple of jokes and honestly some advice quite often, whether it was something about the show or mostly about life, ranging from the stock market to my personal life. He was always there. He was very wise and able to help me out during difficult circumstances. So going into rehearsal with him wasn’t always just about rehearsal. It was just a couple of jokes to lift my spirits or some advice to help me out through some circumstances.

Is there a current actor you’d like to work with or a character that you would like Bo to interact with that you may not have yet?

I think with my kids I’d really like to build those relationships because it seems like the audience wants to see that. They want to see us build on those, especially with Victoria. She has sort of taken on, or rather they have given her the mantle of Bo Brady’s spirit. The rebel, and she’s quite a feisty little actress and performer and people have recognized that as a Bo Brady attribute. So it’d be cool to get the two of us together.

We expect a lot of twists and turns as Bo and Hope’s return story unfolds. What can you tease for viewers?

As we see coming out of the cryogenics with Megan, she’s obviously going to have some kind of hold over Bo and when we’re looking at what’s keeping Bo and Hope apart, obviously Megan’s going to do everything she can to make Bo love her and try to rekindle what they had 40 years ago. Megan’s going to be the fly in the ointment, as they say.

Bo is coming with his memory of who he is right? Because sometimes whenever someone comes back from the dead or they’re coming back from, you know, a suspended state of reality, they don’t always have their memory of who they are and who they love. So we’re hoping that Bo comes back and he’s aware of who he is. He’s trying to get back to his family because if he comes back and his memories are wiped out, that’s just going to take a very long time.

His memories aren’t going to be wiped out, that I can guarantee you. But who he cares about and honestly more searching for himself because he doesn’t really know where he’s going and what his priorities are, which is the interesting part about him because his priorities are shifted. So that’s how they elongated the story. If you want to see Bo and Hope together right away…

Not going to happen.

On a personal note, what is something that you would tell others about life in Alaska that they may be surprised to know?

It’s incredibly beautiful. When people first learn that we’ve been in New Zealand, and now we’re in Alaska, I’d say, “Yeah, we just want to live in the places that people want to visit.” People go, “Wow, you lived in New Zealand, that must be beautiful.” We’re like, “Yep, it was” then people will say they want to go on a cruise to Alaska. To which I’m like “Yep, you should, because it’s beautiful here.”

I grew up in Michigan and lived part of my childhood in Marquette, Michigan, which is right on Lake Superior. So the weather there was very similar to here, maybe not quite as long or quite as cold, but very similar. I thought I might have some issues living here. Kelly is absolutely loving it because she’s back home. But I fell right into it. I got my mountain bike all set up. So I’m still riding my bike over the winter. I feel at home here.

Climate change is really hitting Alaska hard and faster than quite a few places on Earth. I’ve always been an advocate for the environment, and have done so via social media.I recently recorded a video to the Alabama song “Pass It Down” which came out in the early 90s. There were people aware of what was going to happen in regards to climate change a long time ago. There’s a line in that song that says, “Now we all outta feel just a little bit guilty, When we look into the eyes of our kids, ‘Cause, brothers, it’s a fact, if we take and don’t put back, They’ll have to pay for all we did.”

That’s a huge part of who I am. Because I’ve got a daughter now and knowing what she is going to be faced with when I’m gone is… To see the hurt and pain in her eyes is. That’s hard to face.

As a veteran in this ever changing industry that is Hollywood, What advice would you give to up and coming actors that you wish you’d known as a young actor?

This is something I’ve said forever. If you’ve got something to fall back on if acting doesn’t work out, just go ahead and do that because this is a very difficult path in your life. So go ahead and take on your second plan. As long as you’ve got that in your back pocket, it’s ok if you don’t make it in this industry.

Thank you so much for speaking with us today. We are huge fans and are very excited about your return. We can’t wait to see what unfolds!

This weekend is every Days of our Lives fan’s favorite time of year — Day of Days! This year’s festivities concluded with an in-person event for the first time in two years and with it came an absolutely soap-gasmic preview of what’s to come on the Peacock soap opera. Let’s break it down shall we?

All Divas Go To Heaven

We knew from the last big promo that Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) was going to heaven. What we didn’t know is that Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) are set to join her! The orchid goes missing, rendering all three women fatally ill once again. We may be shedding a few tears this Christmas as we watch our faves slowly fade away with their loved ones by their side. Even though we know they are going to survive, I am excited for the emotional journey we are about to take.

A Supercouple Returns

The cat is finally officially out of the bag! Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso are returning to Days of Our Lives! Everyone who watched Beyond Salem 2 prayed for this moment and here it is. A captured Bo awakens to Megan asking for the whereabouts of his Fancy Face. Meanwhile, Steve (Stephen Nichols) and John (Drake Hogestyn) track down an in-the-wild Hope. As mentioned above, The Orchid goes missing so I’m guessing the search for The Orchid lead John and Steve straight to Hope.

We also know Victoria Konefal will be reprising her role as Ciara Brady Weston. With the additions of Miranda Wilson and Steve Burton as Megan Hathaway DiMers and Harris Michaels, this could be shaping up to be one of the strongest stories of 2023.

And Baby Makes….

Its the moment Ericole fans have been waiting for since Eric returned. Eric and Nicole finally admitted their feelings and want to be together. Their reunion won’t be going as planned with the reveal that Jada is pregnant. Nicole does not seem thrilled as the promo has her basically trying to convince Jada not to have the Baby and Eric tells her to butt out. When this story kicked off last week I was intrigued. The potential angst here could be amazing. This part of the promo is now making me apprehensive .

I don’t want Jada to lose the baby at the hands of Nicole or for Nicole to do something she regrets out of fear. (Like potentially screwing EJ on NYE). I want Ericole angst without Ericole getting destroyed in the process.

Chanel’s Secret Revealed

After weeks of speculation the big secret is out. Chanel killed Sloan’s mother. This was NOT the secret I was expecting. I was expecting a party gone wrong and her college roomate was presumably killed. I”m intrigued to see where this goes. Raven is a powerhouse and deserves a moment to shine. Let this lead to a real story for Chanel and Challie both. Lindsey and Raven are too good to be wasted as support for other characters. Their story has been lacking since they got together and I hope this is a way to rectify that.

Other Tidbits

  • Emmy winner Chandler Massey is returning as Will Horton.
  • The push/pull between Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi (Camila Banus) continues.
  • Stephanie and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) will be hittimg the sheets.
  • An explosion rocks Salem.

What were your favorite parts of the promo? Sound off in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter and let us know! And stay tuned to our website for interviews and more from this year’s Day of Days fan event.

You’ve probably already know that Andrew Masset was returning as the villainous Larry Welch. He will indeed appear in the June 8 episode but he’s not the only one. I’m hearing Joseph Mascolo (Stefano DiMera) and Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) will also make guest appearances. Sources also tell me a new actor was tapped to play a pivotal emotional character that will certainly bring viewers (and Hope) to tears.

It’s going to be one not to miss!

Peter Reckell (Bo) and Missy Reeves (Jennifer) speak with Soap Opera Source at <em>Days of our Lives</em>’ fourth annual Day of Days fan event.

TVSource headed out to Los Angeles for Days of our Lives‘ fourth annual “Day of Days” fan event. The free (yes FREE) event was a chance for fans to mingle with some of their favorite stars, and gave the press a chance to have some face to face time with the cast.

Alice’s Secrets is one thing that nearly every days fan is buzzing about. It is one that both honors the history of the show and takes some creative liberties in it as well. We wondered if the story lines surrounding Alice had brought up memories of the late Frances Reid. “All the time,” said Peter enthusiastically. “We keep talking about different memories. I have always loved Frances and to have this reminder of her energy recognized is really cool.” Reeves agreed. “We are on that set all the time. The Horton house is the same set [as it has always been]. Just being on that set and seeing the chair that she always sat in we feel like she is with us. She would love it, that [Alice] is a part of all these story lines. She was an amazing woman.”

Talk turned to that of the first secret to be revealed, that Maggie Horton is the biological mother of Daniel Jonas. “I loved his response. It wasn’t the whole ‘yeah, ok’,” Peter told us, pointing out that for Daniel he had been raised by a woman he thought to be his biological mother, so he shouldn’t just accept this and be ok with it.

Missy pointed out that the contrast between his reaction and Melanie’s is a great one, because for Melanie this is everything she could have ever wanted due to her already close relationship with Maggie. We wondered if Shawn and Missy thought their characters were now related, and Missy explained: “At first Shawn and I were like uh-oh, are we related? But it turns out that we are not related at all,” prompting Peter to ask “Have you explained that to the audience?” to which Missy said “No, we have not.. It’s a big puzzle our family tree!” So will Daniel being the son of someone Jennifer has been so close to her entire life have an impact on the triangle with Jack? Missy tell us “We have not really played that dynamic yet, but I am sure it will come into play in the future – when [Jennifer finally chooses between Daniel and Jack].”

Peter Reckell had nothing but praise for the recent scenes where Bo and Hope reconnect and recommit in the Kiriakis living room explaining, “That is obviously something the characters needed because the circumstances over the last couple years have really pulled them apart. Looking back it really makes since because the event with Zach was such a painful thing.” He went on to say while they are the most important people in each others lives; they were also a reminder of the tragedy. “I don’t know that we have overcome everything, but we have committed to each other and to overcome those issues. You need that commitment first.”

Peter Reckell (Bo) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope) are excited about what is in store for Days of our Lives this fall. As all fans should know by now, a September promo was released to tease the upcoming changed. We asked Alfonso if she could share anything coming up, and while she remained silent on spoilers she did share the reaction she has received to the promo, saying, “I will share this; fans on twitter who have seen the promo are excited. They are saying they are going to tune in for the first time in years. The show is changing. It is adding in what it has been missing in recent years.” She adds that she is excited about what is in store for both her character and the show.

Reckell urges fans not to wait until September 26th to start watching again, explaining “You have to start watching now. We are inlaying a bunch of stuff and teasing some things that were not in the scripts when they originally did them” that lead up to the events that transpire on the 26th. We also asked him what he thought of the scripts he has seen so far from the new writers and he smiled as he said “You will see elements of the 80’s and 90’s. The mystery and romance are back!” {jathumbnail off}

Bradford Anderson told us this year he turned his phone off the night before nominations were announced. “I knew that when I woke up and turned it on if I had a bunch of calls and voicemails I had gotten nominated,” he said smiling. He teased a little about Vanessa Marcil’s return as well. “Brenda is coming back and I think it would be safe to say she runs into Jason and Spinelli.”

Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC) was surprised when it was announced the Emmys would take place in Vegas. “I never would have thought it,” shared the legendary actress. “I am so glad someone did though”. “She told me her commute between New York and Los Angeles is going very well. Lucci also said she hopes to be nominated again in the future. Looks like La Lucci is determined to take another trophy home.

Emmy nominee Shelley Hennig (Stephanie, DAYS) said it’s great being nominated with co-star Molly Burnett. “We work so hard, but we work so well together. It’s great to be recognized for all the hard work we do. It is great to be here”. We discussed all the changes her alter ego has gone through over the years, and Hennig shared she hopes to keep the Philip and Stephanie dynamic going. “I wouldn’t give up working with Jay [Johnson] for the world.”

Louise Sorel (Vivian, DAYS) joked she might have to do something about Maggie if she doesn’t back off of Victor. “Suzanne is a lovely woman. I am honored to work with her. She has such a giving heart,” she added about her co-star.

Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS) chimed saying,”Isn’t it great that our show is giving these actors an actual story”? When asked about his last couple of years on Days, Reckell said it’s been interesting. He also discussed his storyline with Emmy nominee Crystal Chappell (Carly) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope). “I am glad the writers kept all three flawed, none of them are guilty or innocent. It is all very character driven emotion.” Peter also shared that he will be playing a character unlike any we’ve ever seen him play before in season two of Venice.

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

Days of Our Lives star and Emmy nominee Arianne Zucker shared that this past year was some of the hardest work she has had to do. “For Nicole having a baby gave her all the love she ever wanted and needed but never had, and losing the baby caused her to lose it.”

It was clear the actress was humbled by working at Days of Our lives. “I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of my job. I love it.” She noted that while it’s an honor to be nominated, she certainly didn’t get there on her own. She noted co-stars Alison Sweeney, Taylor Sprietler, James Scott, Galen Gering, and Eric Martsolf for their hard work as well as the entire cast.

The handsome Mark Lawson (Brody, OLTL) was quite the chatterbox. He said it’s been really great getting a lot of story to work with. “When I first came in, I got a lot of heavy drama with the PTSD storyline but now I feel like I’m getting into what the heart of the daytime drama is — the family dynamic and the love triangles. The woman I love didn’t love me back, but she does now, and her sister who Brody slept with who happens to be my best buds’ girl”.

The actor said he’s lucky to work with such a wonderful cast, “Now that I have been there awhile I feel like I have found my groove and I am having so much fun.”

All My Children star Denise Vasi (Randi) previewed some of her upcoming storyline. “There is some great work stuff that happens with Randi and at the same time there is a lot of home drama coming up.” She also said, “There will be a lot more of Frankie and Randi coming up, I know fans have been wanting that.”

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

Galen Gering (Rafe, DAYS) said he thinks Las Vegas is a great venue for the Emmys or any award show. He said he loved working with Charles Shaughnessy (Shane). “Oh my god I love that guy. The funny thing is he lived a block away from me for years and we never knew it!” He also teased a little about his upcoming storyline. “Rafe is back. We shot some stuff last week I am really excited about, and I am not just saying that.”

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

Mark Hapka said the energy in Vegas was crazy. The hunk is enjoying his time on Days of Our Lives, being involved in other people’s storylines. “It is fun being a part of everyone’s problem. He is such a good guy though, he should just tell.”

Hapka noted that with Nathan being such a good guy he said he wouldn’t mind a turn to the dark side for the young Horton doctor.

Days of Our Lives star Peggy McCay said she would love to get involved in the storyline with Victor, Maggie, and Vivian. “I think [Caroline] made a mistake turning him down,” she said. She also raved about her costars Alison Sweeney & Emmy Nominee Shelley Hennig as well as the tribute Days has been paying to Francis Reid.

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

Judi Evans shared why the Vegas location made this year’s Emmy’s her personal favorite. “There is a lot of glitz and glamor to the Emmys but even more so with it being in Las Vegas.” When talk turned to her return to Days of Our Lives she admitted she doesn’t know much about what the future holds for Adrienne and she doesn’t mind that. “I take it one script at a time. I don’t ask, I don’t want to know, I want to be surprised. I am as much as a fan as you are,” she said smiling.

“One take, that’s it. Seven shows in five days. We basically hit it and quit it. I really love it. Go in, do your job, know your lines. In my opinion a lot of times the best take is the first take anyways”. We discussed her days on Another World, with Evans saying how much she enjoyed working on the show. “Working with Tom [Eplin] was a lot of fun and the character of Paulina was a lot of fun.”

Greg Rikaart (Kevin, Y&R) was also happy with the change of location to Vegas. “It seems like a good fit. It’s a good place to celebrate all the hard work we do all year and then cut loose for the weekend and have a little fun.” Turning attention over to his alter ego he said that Kevin has been through a lot and he enjoys playing all the beats they give him.

“We are all excited. It is exciting. Everyone loves to travel. This is nice,” said Judith Chapman on the Emmys being held in Vegas. When asked about her tenure as Gloria on Y&R, she said, “I was hoping to be around for as long as I could be. Being the mother of these characters, Michael and Kevin, I’ve seen longevity in that. Within the first few months I felt the chemistry and knew we had staying power.”

Judith is also very involved in theater work. “I started The Troubadours of Daytime for the soap stars who want to be involved in theater. I am planning another play for the fall in Palm Springs”.

As the World Turns star Colleen Zenk Pinter (Barbara) admitted she had never been to Vegas before the Emmy ceremony. She became emotional when talking about the last day of As the World Turns. “It was very, very difficult. The last show is so beautiful. Everything is pretty much buttoned up, but that doesn’t mean the audience knows exactly where everything is headed. It was tough day though”. She also shared that she starts a new theater show in New York next month.

As the World Turns star Jon Hensley (Holden) teased how it will all end for Holden Snyder this fall. “Holden & Molly don’t make it, I can tell you that much.”

Hensley was very complimentary about his co-star Noelle Beck and the tough position she was in by taking over the role of his on-screen love Lily. “[Noelle] is very sweet and I liked her from day one. I don’t know that it was easy for her. She came into a situation where Martha Byrne was loved by the fans, but I think we have great chemistry and it was great to work with her.”

He also spoke out about the triangle involving his on screen son Luke. “I love the character of Reid. He is the best character in daytime, but it is like Holden and Lily, people want Luke and Noah together.”

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

The Bold & the Beautiful’s Kimberly Matula (Hope) was excited to be at the ceremony. “This is my first award show! I have been to Vegas one other time, but this is exciting,” she exclaimed before moving onto the fast pace of daytime. “It moves really fast. I filmed fifty three pages the other day, but I love it”.

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

“Newcomer” Dominic Zamprogna (Dante, GH) echoed Kimberly Matula’s sentiments about the pace of the daytime medium. “At first it was tough, but then I got into a nice groove, then I got lazy but I am back in the groove again.” He also raved about co-stars Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) and Emmy nominee Julie Marie Berman (Lulu) before complementing the entire cast. “I think our show has bar none the best cast in daytime.”

He also said it was “really exciting” working with James Franco.

As the World Turns star Marnie Schulenberg (Alison) was absolutely stunning on the red carpet. She said her character is in store for a happy ending when World Turns goes off the air this September. “I don’t think anyone is expecting it either. It’s a really big step for her.” She also joked that with the Emmys taking place in Vegas, she felt like it’s “Disneyland on crack.”

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

Emmy nominee Carolyn Hennesy (Diane, GH) said, [Being in Vegas adds a lot of glitz and glamour and we need that because we had gotten away from that previously. The Daytime Emmys are just as important as any other Emmys. We work just as hard as anyone else!”

The actress revealed she couldn’t be happier pulling double duty on General Hospital and ABC’s hit comedy Cougar Town. “It is something as an actress you never think will happen. Everyone is playing ball, both GH and Cougar Town have been working with each other.”

Hennesy also shared she believes reason the pairing of Max & Diane have become so popular is because they are a couple people can relate to.

Adrienne Frantz was excited about her July 1st airdate on The Bold and the Beautiful. “You will get to see a lot of the old Amber back. She is the cause of a lot of trouble. You will see a little of Amber and Owen and Amber and Rick,” she said of her return.

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

B&B star Texas Battle (Marcus) said he was liked the Emmys being in Vegas. The young hunk also previewed a little of his upcoming storyline. “Marcus and Steffy are slowly starting to come back together. She is all over the place though. She wants everyman but the one man that has some respect for her.”

Photo Credit: © William Dallman/TVSource Magazine

LeAnn Hunley (Anna, DAYS) shared she was happy to see some old costars return for the tribute to Francis Reid was disappointed she didn’t get to film a reunion scene with on-screen daughter Carrie. “I’m sad that didn’t happen,” she sighed.

Reckell’s New Role

Emmy winner (and current 2010 Outstanding Lead Actress Nominee) Crystal Chappell tweeted news that her Days of our Lives co-star and love interest Peter Reckell (Bo) is joining season two of her web soap opera Venice. Chappell skyrocketed from soap star to cult icon when her Guiding Light character, Olivia Spencer, entered into a same sex relationship with Natalia Rivera (Jessica Leccia). The two, named Otalia by fans, were one of few bright spots during Guiding Light‘s last year on the air.

After the show ended Chappell went back to where she got her roots on Days of our Lives, reprising her role as Dr. Carly Manning. During this time the actress created the web series, Venice, due in large part to the strong support of Otalia fans. On Venice, Chappell plays a lesbian who is dealing with friendship, romance, and family issues.

The series stars an abundance of soap stars including her former Guiding Light co-stars Jessica Leccia, Jordan Clark, Gina Tognoni, and a several Days co-stars Galen Gering & Nadia Bjorlin, and others such as Hillary B. Smith, Lesli Kay, and many more.

No details about Peter Reckell’s role are available at this time.  Personally, I would love to see him take on a gay role. He has tremendous talent and is way underrated in the daytime world. What kind of role would you like to see him take on?

Crystal also announced a Venice fan event will be held at the Universal Sheraton in Universal City, California on Saturday, July 10th.  Tickets for the fan gathering can be purchased at the Venice website in their Vshop — www.venicetheseries.com
