We’re heading towards the end of the story with the third and final episode of season three of The Owl House. Before we get there, let’s revisit the second episode “For the Future” which was a roller coaster ride featuring sweet moments, tense confrontations, and leading up to the final confrontation with the Collector.

“For the Future” picks up with the other side of the season two finale where King uses his powers to get everyone through the door. The collector begins talking with King. He asks about the game he promised called The Owl House. Lilith and Hooty fly up to King and try to protect him. The Collector fires magic at them, turning them into toys. The Collector puts them into a toy house.

Eda, still with Raine, turns into her beast form and flies towards King. Kikimora rises out from the rubble, seeing destruction around her. Eda gets close to King but lands on a platform floating around. The Collector notices Eda, grabs her and says she looks fun and invites her to play.

Luz wakes up in the in-between and notices another figure there with her. Suddenly Amity grabs her out, bringing her to the demon realm, and makes sure she’s okay because she was worried. The group doesn’t see Belos anywhere and proceeds cautiously. Hunter hears a bird but realizes it isn’t Flapjack. He gets frustrated and tells everyone they need to keep moving. Willow and Gus look scared for their friend and the situation they’re in, but Willow says they’ll be okay once they punch Belos through the face. Yes through the face.

Camila notices the kids were holding back in the human realm as she sees them use their magic. She tells Luz how pretty the demon realm is until she sees the Titan skull. They notice all the changes from The Collector but don’t know yet what happened. Camila tries to talk with Luz about her decision, but Luz insists once they save everyone she’s going to return to the human realm. Camila wants to keep talking about it but Luz walks off.

Belos struggles through the woods needing a new body. His form looks even worse. He sees an illusion of his brother and lashes out on him.

The group arrives home to the Owl House to find it trashed. Camila turns to Willow and Gus for advice about Luz. Gus tells a story about Willow coming to help him get over feeling like a failure by telling him how she’s a failure too sometimes and they bonded over it. He realized he wasn’t upset about failing, more that he was failing his dad. He then realizes that he doesn’t know if his dad is ok now since they ended up in the human realm. Willow comforts him. They notice Hunter outside pacing and yelling so they decide to go check on him.

Camila pulls Willow aside and asks if she’s really doing ok. Willow replies that she is and that she’s the reliable one. Camila tells her it’s not good to hold everything inside. Willow repeats that she’s okay and walks off. As she does Camila notices tiny sprouts growing out of where she had previously stepped.

Amity wanders the house and finds Luz in a nest, holding her palisman as if it’ll help it hatch. Amity reminds her of what the Bat Queen said and how she has to connect with it and she has to express her deepest wish. Amity shares how she found her connection and promises Luz she needs to be patient.

Suddenly Hutner spots King flying above on a shooting star. They all hop on their staffs and fly after them. Camila cries the whole way and is relieved to get off. The town is boarded up. They turn a corner and magic suddenly flies past them. They see all the people in town suddenly as toy puppets and they scatter when the owl beast appears. Just as the beast is about to pounce the Collector and King fly in saying they’ll save the day. They use a light glyph and it saves the day. The townspeople cheer. We see it isn’t Eda at all. It’s Terra. She thinks she’s in the clear by playing Eda, but The Collector doesn’t like the way she is acting and turns her into a toy. King tells The Collector they can’t keep doing that. He wants to play with the real Eda but Kng reminds him that she’s still dealing with the curse. King promises to check on Eda. The Collector and King head off to the archive house and Luz runs out after them. The happy facade in town drops and all the toys and color disappear. They plan to follow, but suddenly Mattholomule and his friend show up.

Mattholomule catches the group up. At Hexide during the Day of Unity, we see Bump has been protecting students and teachers allowing them to camp there. Suddenly The Collectors spies arrived and attacked, turning the adults to toys. The kids remained hiding out. The group sneak past the spies and arrive back at Hexide. The school has become a marketplace, a place to train and more. It’s disheveled and smells bad, but it has kept them all safe.

Suddenly Em spots Amity and hugs her. Ed in a full body cast stumbles over. He accidentally fell into a well. Amity embraces them both, happy to see they’re okay.

In the woods, Belos draws a spell and activates it. A door opens and he drags himself in, past the bones of his failed Golden Guards. He sees another vision of his brother, but continues on. He spots an arm coming out of the ground and pounces on it. The hand suddenly twitches.

The Collector and King arrive back at the archive house. King tries to check on Eda but is interrupted by Amity’s mom who asks if The Collector had a good adventure. The Collector asks for pizza bagels. Odalia says she can be of more use but The Collector insists, leaving her to put back the toys. She doesn’t seem too happy.

King and The Collector arrive back in their room. The Collector tries to come up with more fun ideas but King is worried it’d kill the people. The Collector gets into bed and asks King to read a story. King gets to a part of the story about ridding the planet of all life, that is scratched out. Underneath in handwriting are new lines that are juvenile about having fun instead. The Collector asks to sleep with Francois but King reminds him only one person has been allowed. He then asks if he can leave Francois to watch over as they sleep. The Collector says he doesn’t like being alone. King sighs and puts Francois on the nightstand. The Collector closes his eyes and King flies out of the room.

At Hexide, Boscha is the student body president and is running things. Two new characters Miki and Roka serve as her guards. They say they were traveling during the Day of Unity and found themselves hiding at Hexide during the incident. Luz introduces her mom and tells Boscha that they’re going to get everyone out of the archive and save the Boiling Isles. Silence echoes through the room. Boscha says they’re all staying put and she will not be putting the students in harm’s way. Outside the room, Luz comes up with the idea to get close to the archives by teleporting to the Titans skull.

At the archives, King spots the toyified version of Hooty and brings him to a room where the coven heads are all toyified as well. Eda stands with them pretending to be turned. She steps over a red line and the toys all wake up ready to attack Eda. King pushes her back across the line and they all power down. Back in Eda’s room, Lilith is making a potion. Lilith’s hair is shorter and all the dye is gone. Eda drinks it and feathers on her body disappear. Lilith freaks out seeing Hooty in his toy form. King says maybe The Collector could release him too like he did for Eda and Lilith. They tell him that King is already putting himself at risk too much. King and Eda reflect on missing Luz and hope she’s ok.

Mattholomule brings the group into his secret room. He and Jerbo have been coming up with plans to make Hexide more livable. Luz begins to tell Willow about the time she saw Belos use a glyph to teleport to the skull. They decide to use magic to pull the memory out of her head.

Back at Belos lair, the arm he took over begins to move. It suddenly begins to melt away leaving bone and deformities. He rushes off in anger that his new form didn’t take. He begins climbing to the archive. Inside, Odalia is growing more frustrated with her situation and wishes someone saw her value. Belos rises behind her and suddenly shoots himself towards Raine’s puppet body. Belos has taken control and Raine has a devious smile on their face.

Back in the hidden room, Willow pulls memories out of Luz’s head trying to find the one remembering the glyph Belos used. Hunter is happy to get moving again. Willow hands him a picture of him and Flapjack from when they played Flyer Derby. Gus and Willow tell him how they know he misses Flapjack and they don’t care who he was supposed to be in the past because he’s one of them now. Hunter’s eyes well up and Luz asks if he’s okay. Willow grows nervous thinking she’s made things worse. Roots begin climbing up her legs. She leaves saying she’ll be back. Gus apologizes and tells Hunter he knew he was a Grimwalker but was afraid to say anything. He says maybe if he said something sooner, everything would be different now. Gus heads out to find Willow. Hunter follows after begging them to wait up..

Willow passes Boscha in the hallway and Boscha taunts her playfully. She talks about how it’s hard to be a leader and offers unsolicited advice to Willow. Willow calls her out, saying how she’s been petty and mean to her since they met. Willow grows more upset and suddenly something rises up behind her. Boscha has been distracting Willow for bad intentions it seems.

Luz is about to tell Amity about her plans to stay in the human realm when suddenly the door explodes open. Miki and an abomination stand in the doorway. Suddenly it’s revealed that Kikimora has been hiding in plain sight all along as Miki. Boscha releases a sleeping potion, knocking out the group.

Raine walks down the hallways. Belos’ sludge drips from their eyes. They sneak into The Collector’s room as he sleeps. The Collector asks how they broke the spell and Raine tells The Collector that they’re in danger.

Kikimora drops the group into a pit. She reveals she teamed up with Boscha and we see she is just copying Belos’ scare tactics to have people worship her. Kikimora goes to attack Luz and Amity calls Boscha out, saying it’s a bit much, even for her. Just as Kikimora is about to fire a blast, Luz launches a plant glyph attack. Amity throws an attack as well while they try to tie Kikimora up. Camila attempts an ice glyph which goes wrong, breaking the ceiling open, dropping stones everywhere. They group gets split up. Everyone avoids getting hit and Kikimora goes to attack again. Camila tosses a bat which hits Kikimora in the face. They run off. Separated, Amity calls out for Luz hoping she’s ok. She runs into Boscha who suddenly drops to her knees begging Amity to come back. This surprises both Amity and Mattholomule. They try to walk away but Boscha tries to stop Amity from leaving saying they can rule together. Amity tells he she can’t be who she wants her to be but they can try to save her teammates, only if she lets them try.

Gus wakes up on the ground next to Hunter, shaking him trying to wake him. Gus asks what happened and then remembers smelling sleeping nettles. Hunter tells him that he saw Kikimora so that’s a bad sign. Gus goes to try and find an exit. Hunter holds himself on the ground and says he wishes Flapjack was there with him. Vines begin growing around him. He hears Gus scream and runs towards him. Gus is hanging from the ceiling held by growth coming from Willow. Her eyes are glowing green and she’s completely overwhelmed. She keeps repeating “I can do this” as plant growth appears everywhere, covering Gus and Hunter. She comes to her senses slightly, looks around the room covered in growth and finds herself alone.

Back in The Collectors room, they begin laughing at the thought of them being in danger. The Collector decides to drop in on King in his room with magic. At first The Collector sees King defending the Collector, but then sees King is planning on how to stop The Collector. The Collector is upset that King wasn’t being friendly. Belos then tells the collector that Luz is back. Still using Raine’s body, Belos puts the idea that she’s back to help King stop him.

King tells Eda and Lilith how he used to be scared to make The Collector mad but now he feels like he can relate to him. King plans to talk to The Collector first before they plan something more drastic.

Luz and Camila escape out of a wall in the pit and into the woods using an invisibility spell. Kikimora follows behind blasting ahead of her to try and get them. Luz and Camila hide, releasing their breath, revealing themselves. Luz tosses her hat in frustration saying how she messed up again. Camila pulls Luz towards her and tells Luz that messing up is a part of living. She offers examples of times when she’s messed up herself. The biggest mess up was that she didn’t stand up for Luz when she needed her mom the most. Camila forgot about the Astral Oath. The oath relates to the book series we found out she loves between the Captain and his family to love and protect each other just as they are. Camila tells Luz she had a hard time growing up so she was afraid Luz would too. Now she sees she made a mistake by trying to protect her by changing Luz into someone she wasn’t. Luz’s bag begins to shimmer. Luz says she just realized something. Inside the bag the palismsn egg begins to crack. Luz tells Camila the only thing she ever wanted was to be understood. Camila notices the glowing become brighter. Tears fall from Luz’s eyes and suddenly magic shoots up into the sky. In the distance Kikimora spots it too. Luz gasps seeing a staff with magic swirling at the top. It hovers towards Luz. She grabs it and the energy calms down revealing an orb at the top. Kikimora suddenly surprises them with an attack.

Willow calls out for Hunter and Gus. Still not in control of her powers, she tries to get to Gus and Hunter but the growth keeps coming. She suddenly shifts to saying that she “can’t do this.” Hunter watches as Willow becomes overcome by growth. Tears well in his eyes and he begins to glow yellow. He speed teleports out of the vines and frees Willow. He tells her that she didn’t make anything worse or do anything wrong. He tells her how much they all mean to him and he didn’t know how to say that before. He tells Willow he knows she’s been holding a lot in. Gus then echoes in, saying that reliable people need someone to rely on too!  He tells Willow to let it out and they’ll all be fine. Willow begins bawling, saying how she misses her dad’s. The growth begins to collapse around them. Hunter teleports the three out of the pit to safety. Gus asks how Hunter did that with magic. Hunter asks “the magic of friendship?” They realize he has the magic of Flapjack inside him now. Suddenly, Hunter spots a burst of magic heading their way. He teleports Gus and Willow to safety in time. Luz apologies, saying she’s still getting the hang of her staff. Gus and Willow are surprised to see Luz with a staff. Willow says it makes her nervous seeing it!.

Kikimora appears and tries to attack. Willow, now in control again, blocks an attack and ties Kikimora up. Gus creates illusions of Willow flying around. Kikimora fires at random trying to hit the real one. Suddenly the kids from Hexide, even Boscha, attack Kikimora. Amity flies to Luz telling her they need to get to the skull. Luz begins drawing the teleport symbol in the ground but her staff suddenly lifts her, allowing her to move and draw it quicker. The other kids begin drawing too with their staffs. Kikimora breaks free from the Hexide kids just as they finish drawing. Kikimora fires at the group but Luz activates the glyph in time.

They arrive at the Titan skull. They all are relieved to have made it in one piece and that it worked at all. Luz notices her palismsn begins taking a form. The group all approach, wondering what it will be. It suddenly shifts into multiple forms. She’s a snake shifter! Luz names her Stringbean and calls her perfect. All of the palismen join together and Camila hugs them all, speaking to them in Spanish with a baby voice. Willow thanks Hunter for what he said to her earlier. She tells him that he means a lot to her too. He blushes red and his eyes fill with tears. He tells her that he was happy to help as they clasp a finger together.

Stringbean comes back to Luz and Luz tells Amity that she can’t wait to introduce her to Eda and King. Amity tells Luz that they’ll love her. They suddenly realize that Hooty might eat her. As might King. As might Eda! They look at each other and begin laughing.

Above them at the archive, Belos inside Raine tells The Collector again that Luz is there to help King get rid of them. Belos asks The Collector what they plan to do. The Collectors eyes become a bright red. They begin to float proclaiming that they think it’s time for a new game. The Collector snaps their fingers.

This is it! We’re heading quickly into the endgame now. What is The Collector planning now? Will everyone make it out safely? Will King be able to talk sense into The Collector? Will Belos be stopped? There are so many questions I have that will likely all be addressed in the finale, airing April 8.

The episode did a fine job filling in the blanks as to what was happening while Luz and the other kids were stuck in the human realm. The Collector has turned most of the population into play things. I was happy to see King was able to get The Collector to spare Eda and Lilith. Thankfully they are free from control, at least for now. Still, I was surprised we didn’t see more Eda, Lilith and King in the episode. We just got a glimpse of them, still surviving and planning, but nothing too deep into their current states of mind. The physical changes were pretty relevant, being stripped down to their bases, under the control of The Collector. With The Collector now knowing that they don’t have the best intentions, I’m worried.

Seeing Luz upset was still upsetting. She had a lot on her mind because she want to save everyone, but she doesn’t really want to leave them all behind. Having Camila along for the journey was really good for Luz. After first avoiding discussing her plans, she opened up to Camila in a really heartbreaking, yet hopeful discussion. Camila was able to finally open up about her feelings she kept inside while Luz was gone. I like how they continue to insert family trauma into the story and how little things from the past still affect those in the present. It’s an important topic and one that should be discussed more. Camila had all this guilt she unintentionally put on Luz. Seeing how talking about it allowed for Luz’s palisman to wake up shows how it was really needed.

I was a bit surprised Kikimora still went to her roots and came up with a new scheme to keep herself in power. In a way it was predictable, but at the same time sad that even with everyone going on around her, she didn’t try to do the right thing again. She’s had plenty of opportunities, but maybe in the finale she can redeem herself a bit.

It was sad seeing Odalia still not getting it right either. She’s doing what she needs to do to survive this unique situation, but she’s clearly only looking out for herself. Maybe she can also do the right thing in the finale and help. Especially in a moment where Amity may need her the most.

Belos is still up to no good. It was really disturbing seeing them choose Raine to inflict so much deceit and pain on others. It makes me worried for Raine in the finale. Will they be able to free them from Belos? I don’t want to see anyone, let alone Eda, have to choose what to do to save them.

Willow holding everything in was rough to watch. It has been building for some time now and the fallout was at one of the worst times. Were it not for Hunter who knows how someone could have gotten through to her! Camila saw the signs, yet she kept pushing through.

Hunter finally finding the words to say how he feels about his friends was nice to see. He’s been holding a lot in as well. Gus, Willow and Hunter have created a strong bond and it was great to see. Through all of these hardships, they’ve become a family.

I absolutely loved that he obtained his powers from Flapjack. The two are now bonded together for life. They get to share their love for one another together forever. The teleporting powers will absolutely come in handy! He was able to master them in the heat of the moment, so once he completely learned how to control it, he should become a force to reckon with. Especially if there is a final battle to come against The Collector and/or Belos.

It was pretty hilarious revealing that Mattholomule’s actual name is Matt Tholomule. Seeing him think he’s all grown up now was a perfect addition to his character. It was also great seeing him push back against Boscha and her power trip. He knew what he had to do despite her wishes. She still was Boscha until the end of the episode. She eventually realized the right thing, later than she should, but she still came through for her friend, Hexide and others.

What an amazing ride this series has been. To think of how we started with Luz being a slightly timid young girl with bright eyes in a new place, and now she’s helping to free her adopted home from the grip of two power hunger maniacs! Hopefully she will be able to save Eda, King, and everyone else stuck in the archive. I have a good feeling that with her friends, and everyone else she’s had an influence on, they will be able to come together and persevere. I don’t want this show to end!!!

“Watching and Dreaming,” the series finale of The Owl House airs April 8 at 9:25PM on Disney Channel and Disney XD. All current episodes can be streamed on Disney+.

Not wanting to admit the series is coming to an end, I held off on watching the first of the three The Owl House specials, “Thanks To Them.” With the second special, “For The Future” set to premiere January 21 at 9PM, it was time to see what happened to our heroes after ending up back in the Human Realm. Will they be able to adapt to the changes? Will it be a struggle? With everything up in the air, it could go any way.

The episode begins with Luz and Hunter promising to keep each other’s secrets, hoping that once they are ready to tell the others, they won’t hate them. Luz doesn’t want to tell them she helped Belos meet The Collector and Hunter doesn’t want them to think differently of him because he is a Grimwalker. The kids fill in Camila on everything that happened and discus how they need to get back. Camila comforts the kids, telling them they’re safe there. That pesky sludge from Belos that came through the door with them moves outside. That’s not good!

We see the kids all adjust to the human realm in their own way. A new intro plays, showing Luz and Amity telling Camila about their relationship, the kids adjusting further, and them planning how to get back, all decked out in human clothes. As the montage continues, the kids try to open the door to no success, struggle using human items properly and attempt to cook to disastrous results. Vee takes on a new form, Luz and Amity’s relationship thrives with Luz teaching Amity about human things, and Luz even ends up going back to school.

Time has passed since they arrived in the Human Realm, and the kids attempt to learn Spanish from “a scary owl app.” Vee has learned a lot. Flapjack is looking for something and Hunter notices. The kids have turned the abandoned house into a cleaner and safer place, even with their own Hooty drawn on the front door to which horror sounds play. Camila has her work out for her as a sudden mother of six.

Tired of sitting around, Amity, with purple hair dye fading, convinces the group to explore and see if any other travelers from the Demon Realm have left any clues. Amity falls into a hole that Flapjack has made in the floor. Inside, she pulls out a creepy looking box with a scroll inside it. One of the markings looks like the eye from the portal door. The group decides to use their buff brains to see if it leads to anything before telling Luz, so they don’t disappoint her again.

At school, Luz struggles to readjust. Two new students approach Luz and invite her to come to the Haunted Hayride. On the ride home, Camila is forced to stop short when they come across an accident. The Belos sludge again appears on the carcass of a deer that had struck the car.

In the basement, Hunter uses the sewing machine to make a shirt with wolves on it. He accidentally injures himself, to which Gus uses magic to help bandage it up. Gus notices Hunter has been a lot happier since arriving in the human realm. Hunter gets nervous, saying it’s not like he doesn’t want to go back, he’s just looking for ways to pass the time. Gus then asks Hunter what it was like being in the Emperor’s coven. When asked if he misses it, Hunter says he misses knowing who he is supposed to be. Gus shows Hunter a book he read about people in space trying to find a way back home. One of the characters is a clone from an enemy planet. Hunter takes notice and asks what happens to that character. Gus tells him he’ll have to find out, as he opens a door full of outfits, collectables and other objects from the series.

In bed, Luz lies awake. She gets up and grabs her palisman still in its shell. She knocks the hayride flier on the floor, which Amity picks up.

Also in bed, Camila takes notes about the kids and their stories and she suddenly nods off. She dreams of moments from the past where Luz is curious or expressive in a way that others just don’t understand. It then morphs to the moment a guidance counselor gives Camila the flier for the summer camp she sends Luz off to. Luz walks in, waking Camila up. She asks her mom why she’s not mad at her. Camila tells her that she knows what it feels like to want to run away, but in the end, Luz came home. Luz grows upset, feeling bad that her friends are trapped with her, and that King and Eda are trapped on the other side. Camila comforts Luz telling her that everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is that she learns from them. Outside the house, the sludge appears again, taking another form.

The kids plan to go into town to try and figure out the scroll. They prepare for the journey and Hunter appears in a cyborg outfit, copying a look from the book Gus gave him. Amity begs him to change but Willow loves every moment. Hunter says he’ll catch up with them and they go off. He tells himself he’s proud of who he’s become. Flapjack begins to fly around and lands at the sludge that has made its way in the house. Hunter approaches.

In town, the kids go to a magic shop and get chased out for causing a ruckus. They try the library. Amity tries to get the card catalog cabinet to open and is shocked when a kid opens it up by pulling. She turns bright red and falls as she tries to run out. They go to the zoo and try to talk to a giraffe. No luck. Gus comments how he’s glad they were all banished in their realm! Vee brings them to the historical society, but stands nervously outside after what happened. Willow knows the story and helps comfort her. They go inside and a staff member tells them that Jacob had been fired and they’re all happy he’s not working there anymore. Amity asks Masha if they know what the scroll is. They call it a rebus and a bunch of them were dug up in Old Gravesfield. The scroll is a riddle and the pictures and symbols make up a word. Amity looks harder at the images. They decipher one of the words as Titan’s Blood. Vee comments about Gus, Amity and Willow’s friendship and they admit it wasn’t always that way. Willow pulls out a scrapbook showing all the good times they’ve had together. They take a picture with Vee to add to the collection. Vee spots a map of Old Gravesfield that looks like the scroll. They figure a stash of Titan’s Blood must be hidden there. It just so happens, the Hayride is there too and they plan on surprising Luz.

Luz sits with her palisman wondering what it will be once it hatches. She grows worried it’ll never hatch. Camila tells her it’s time to go. Luz puts her hand down on a glyph she drew and notices it begins to smoke slightly.

Hunter sits in the basement, and gets upset with Flapjack for not telling him the sludge was there. He hears a car arrive home. Hunter puts Flapjack in his cage, telling him that he’ll keep him safe from Belos, and goes upstairs. Luz asks what’s wrong, and he tells her Belos. They go to the abandoned house together with gardening tools and a bat to protect themselves. They burst into the house with masks on telling Belos to come out. They search the house and end up going down to the spooky basement. A piece of furniture rattles from within. They slowly approach, open the door, and only find a possum. The two realize they’re just being paranoid because they want to keep everyone safe. Luz tells Hunter she’ll keep him safe too since he’s family now. Hunter begins to cry and Luz pulls him in for a hug. As they climb the stairs together, Hunter’s shadow looks like Belos. Uh oh!

They arrive home to the others making costumes for the Hayride. Gus and Hunter are going to dress up as their book characters. Camila gets caught off guard asking where they found the book. She begins to slowly crack up about how things just suddenly appear in basements, nervously chucking. “Cool, Humans freak out just like us!” Willow is excited to take part in human traditions. Amity tells Luz they’re going to dress up as characters from Good Witch Azura The Movie 2: The Betrayanning.

Unable to sleep again, Luz takes her laptop into the kitchen. She records a new video diary entry. She talks about thinking she found something, but in the end she only put everyone in danger. She says she has to learn from her mistakes like her mom told her and she knows what she has to do.

The next day they all get dropped off in town for the event, all dressed up. Luz sees her mom off and the others plan their reveal for Luz about the Titan’s Blood. Hunter hears an ominous laugh from the woods. Hunter tucks Flapjack into his shirt. When he turns, his skin begins turning green. A witch trial reenactment goes on and Gus jumps in, using magic. Jacob accuses him of being a demon and gets tackled by security. They get on the Hayride and Masha begins to tell them the story of the mystery of Gravesfield, The Tales of the Brothers Wittebane. !!!!!!

In the year 1613, two orphaned brothers arrive in town, Philip and Caleb. Hunter gets nervous. The two became witch hunters who met a witch named Evelyn. Caleb was enticed by the witch and Philip went to save his brother. They used a secret word to travel between worlds. Neither were ever seen again.

They get off the ride and Hunter hears the laughter from the woods again. He grabs Luz and runs off with her, trying to convince her of what he saw. She asks him why he would be there. He tells her about the Titan’s Blood that they were going to surprise her with. She asks why no one told her and Hunter tells Luz that Luz and Camila do so much for them, they wanted to do something for her. Luz says they need to find the blood first to make sure it’s real. Hunter accuses her of not believing Belos is there and he’s going to prove it. He pulls out Flapjack and tells him to get the rebus. Flapjack doesn’t move. Hunter’s eyes suddenly glow and bulge and his voice grows scary. Luz gets angry at him for how he acted and says he doesn’t know what came over him. Flapjack sneaks the scroll off of Amity and flies back. The two run off into the woods while Amity, Gus and Willow try to find them.

At home, Camila picks up Luz’s laptop and trips. The laptop opens and an entry from her video diary begins to play a video of a younger Luz talking about how they moved to be near a better hospital for her dad. The next entry is one where Luz is mourning her father but the next entries grow happier, as she becomes more into the book her father left her, Azura. Camila is about to close the laptop when the most recent entry begins playing. She’s going to tell everyone after the Hayride that she’s going to stay permanently in the Human Realm. Camila looks shocked, then angry.

Hunter and Luz run through the woods. His sewing injury suddenly stops him in his tracks. When he pulls back the bandage he sees the sludge. His eyes glow again, seeing Belos’s shadowy figure. Luz follows him into the fog. She realizes she can’t get to the Titan’s blood without Hunter and the rebus. She then thinks back to the glyph slightly smoldering. She pulls out a glyph and taps it. It curls up and begins to glow in a small ball of light. She then realizes the glyphs are powered by the magic of the isles, by the Titan itself. The closer she is to the Titan Blood, the stronger the glyph will become. She walks deeper into the woods, touching glyph after glyph.

Back in town, the others look for the missing Luz and Hunter. Amity notices the rebus is missing. Just then, Camila and Vee arrive asking if they know where Luz is. Vee pulls out her “find a phone” app and Luz’s location appears.

Luz arrives at a flooded graveyard. She uses glyphs to build an ice bridge to where she finds Hunter. She finds Hunter acting strange, but doesn’t pick up on it. He tells her to find the Titans blood while he goes and finds his palisman who was spooked off. Hunter’s body has more green on it and he keeps asking if she found the blood yet. She spots Flapjack cowering behind a headstone. Hunter approaches, asking how her magic is working. Horns suddenly shoot out of his head. Luz hears her friends in the distance. Hunter’s voice begins to change. Luz knows it’s Belos. He thanks Luz for her help and says he doesn’t need her anymore. He pulls his hand back to strike her, but misses. Instead, he pulls Titan’s blood out from the ground.

Luz uses glyphs to push Belos back from the blood. He accuses her of not even trying because she’s afraid she’ll hurt Hunter. With her friends in view, he thanks her for introducing him to The Collector. She tells him she thought she was doing something good. Which Belos tells her she in fact did. He thought Hunter was a lost cause, but because of her, he can now finish his work as a witch hunter. Starting with her friends. Belos attacks the group. Amity Willow and Gus pull out their staffs, blocking his attacks. They fly off, engaging Belos, avoiding his attacks and taunting him. Even Vee gets in on the action.

Flapjack turns back into his staff allowing Luz to teleport to Belos. She grabs him trying to speak to Hunter, telling him that she knows he can hear her and to fight Belos off. He tosses Luz aside, and Flapjack begins pecking Belos’ horns. He grabs Flapjack, and cracks him. Before he can absorb his power, his other hand attacks himself, allowing Flapjack to fly to Luz, slowly losing his essence. Hutner begins fighting back, telling Belos he’d like to leave the Emperor’s coven and never step foot in the throne room again. He wants to study magic and learn how to carve palismen. He wants to be a student and play Flyer Derby with his friends. But most of all, he wants to make sure he never hurts anyone again. He tosses the Titan’s Blood into the water. Belos takes control again and dives in. He reaches the vial of blood, but begins sinking to the bottom. Camila dives in and rescues him. Belos’ is expelled from Hunter’s body, holding the Titan’s Blood. He accuses “Caleb” of stabbing him in the back. Luz tells Belos that he did it first.

Belos smashes the vial, the blood creating a portal door. He turns to the group and tells them that they’ll thank him later. He walks backwards disappearing into the portal. Hunter lays still on the ground, and they all try to think of the best way to help him. Flapjack flies out of Luz’s pocket, lies on Hunter’s chest, and releases his glowing essence on Hunter. Flapjack begins to dissolve into the air, as Hunter wakes up. When he comes to, he asks if everyone else is okay. Gus tries to tell Hunter what happened, but he stops him, grabbing his chest, saying he already knows what happened.

Luz walks away slowly, and Amity asks her what Belos meant by her helping him meet The Collector. Luz comes clean, telling them if it weren’t for her, the Day of Unity never would have happened. She tells them about the time pool and how she met Philip and how she taught him the spell. That she set everything in motion. Amity asks why she kept it a secret from them. Luz tells her she thought they would all hate her for it. Just as she’s about to tell everyone she’s going to stay in the Human Realm, Camila grabs Luz and says it’s time Luz took her to the Demon Realm. Luz is taken aback by the proclamation. Amity tells Luz she could never hate her. Camila tells Luz now that she knows what they’re up against, there’s no way she’s letting her go back alone. It’s their duty to help her friends get back to their families. Hunter tells Luz she was tricked and that’s just what Belos does. If it wasn’t her it would have just been someone else and without Luz there’d be no one to fight back. He asks her to fight back, and for extra emotional pulls on the heartstrings, he says to fight for Flapjack. She smiles and says “For Flapjack.”

The portal door begins to fade in and out, about to close. Luz tells them it’s time to head in. Hunter takes the lead heading to the portal. He stops at the edge, grabs his chest and tells Flapjack it’s time to go home. He walks through, followed by Gus and Willow, thanking the Human realm for all the memories. Willow says they’ll be back after they get some revenge! LOL Amity steps forward telling Luz she knows that she has no idea what the future holds, but it’d be great if she were a part of it. She tells Luz no more hiding and Luz tells her that she understands. Amity gives her a peck on the cheek and walks through. Vee hands Camila a bat telling her that she may need it. Vee says she’s not ready to come through with them. She then says someone has to keep up appearances, suddenly transforming into Camila. She hugs Vee and thanks her. Camila asks Luz if she’s ready. Luz asks Camila if she’s ready. Luz picks up her witches hat and Camila tells her “A good witch always has to have her hat.” The two hold hands and walk through the portal together. Vee walks off, realizing Camila still has the car keys!

That was a great way to kick off the first of the three Season Three specials. It felt completely focused, yet full of many great moments. I enjoyed the time jump, showing that things take time and not every problem can be fixed instantly. It provided for some hilarious moments seeing the kids adapt to Human situations and items they’ve never seen before.

I loved how confident Hunter became in himself. Despite being afraid, which is only natural, he was looking out for his friends and his new family. The absolutely devastating moment of him telling Gus he knew what flapjack did and his sacrifice was an emotional one. I was shocked they went that way, actually having a character we care about no longer be with them. Just like how Pochita gives up their form for Denji in Chainsaw Man, it changes the person (is there a crossover The Owl House/Chainsaw Man audience, or is it just me). This one was even more of an emotional moment since we had even more of a connection to the character. The stakes are high as this final round of episodes kicks off.

Seeing Luz and Amity explore their relationship outside of the Demon Realm was adorable. Even though most of the moments were montage moments, they were powerful and felt so natural. They’ve been through these events no one else can understand and it only made them stronger. Seeing Camila being a supportive mom with her pride pin was super cute too.

I was also surprised at how Camila announced she was going to the Demon Realm with them. It also makes complete sense and is absolutely what a mother like her would do. She finally got her daughter back, there’s no way she’s going to let her go on her own again! Camila clearly has guilt, and has to make up for sending her daughter to the camp in the first place, which set everything in motion. It’ll also provide for some great moments in the Demon Realm. Plus, she can meet Eda in person which should provide for some memorable scenes should we get them!

From a technical perspective, I actually loved the longer form episode. It felt more important, and urgent, allowing more story to play out. It was almost more cinematic! Anyone planning to binge all three episodes at once will be in for an absolute treat. I’m still sad we’re only getting these three episodes, but they’re clearly doing the most with each one of them.

I was sad we didn’t get to see any hints about what was happening in the Demon Realm, but from a story perspective, it made complete sense. This episode was just the beginning and I’m sure there’s plenty more we’re going to find out about. I hope Eda, King and the rest are all okay!

Has The Collector caused even more chaos? Does anyone have a plan? What is Belos going to do now? Revenge? I really don’t want this incredible series to end! Hopefully they announce when the third and final special episode will premiere. I’m certain we’ll all be left craving the rest of the story by the end of episode two. Bring it on!

The Owl House Season 3, Episode 2 “For The Future” airs Saturday, January 21 at 9PM on Disney Channel and Disney XD.

We’ve reached the final episode of The Owl House Season 2! The whole second half of the season set the stage for part two of the season finale, and boy did it deliver. King’s Tide was such a strong episode. We got a range of emotions throughout. Characters lives were laid on the line, we got some big confrontations, and everyone was willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. It’s hard to imagine the show only has three 44-minute specials left in it to wrap the whole story up.

The episode picks up with King waking up in the darkness again hearing the voice of the Collector. Belos tells the Collector that he can trust him. King scoffs at the statement. Suddenly the Collector shouts out asking who is there. King is jostled awake suddenly, sleeping in Willow’s arms. Alador is flying the airship with Amity, Willow, Gus and Hunter on board. Their palismen all sleep together and shiver. Tempers begin to flare as they all seem frustrated. Amity wants to fly faster, and Hunter wants to take the wheel from Alador. Alador questions if Hunter is trying to get back to Belos. Hunter counters, saying at least he didn’t build Belos an army. Gus tells them not to distract the pilot as the ship begins to rock.

King sadly says that he can’t believe Luz is going to fight Belos on her own again and he’s powerless to help. Willow sends her palismen to the other palismen who bring a crate of food to the others arguing. They realize they’re hungry and exhausted. They decide to focus their energy on helping instead of fighting. The atmosphere suddenly shifts and things go smoother. They all help each other and calm down.

Belos greets the crowd at the Day of Unity. The crowd goes wild with cheers. He tells the crowd how much wild magic has been a curse on them all and they’re about to wipe it out for good. The heads of the covens climb the stairs to get to Belos. The CATs are all getting into their places. Raine and Eda talk as they get ready. Raine reminds Eda that her voice won’t be covered by the cloak. She tells Raine she has it all handled and not to worry. Raine tells Eda not to tell them to worry. Raine takes Eda’s hand, touches her new sigil and the two lock eyes. Lilith runs in with Hooty on her back and tells Eda to be careful. The sisters embrace and Hooty gets teary eyed.

Eda uses the stone to appear as Raine. She approaches Darius and looks back at a worried Raine and Lilith. They approach Belos and the rest of the coven heads. Belos says he’s changing up the plans. Darius and Eberwolf get pushed aside, leaving Eda without her original protection. Belos begins the ceremony drawing glyphs in the ground around them. The eclipse begins and Belos quietly says goodbye to the Boiling Isles. The ground begins to glow and the crowd’s sigils glow along with. Belos suddenly disappears.

Belos reappears with the Collector who says it’s done and now he can be free. Belos apologizes saying he only has enough Titan’s Blood to open the portal. He pours the remaining blood into the door contraption. It begins to glow. The collector calls Belos a liar for not holding up his end of the deal and throws a tantrum. Belos covers the mirror and the tantrum stops.

Kikimora enters the chambers and presents a gift for Belos, what she thinks is Hunter. Kikimora asks to be his second in exchange for the gift she brought him. He tells her no and she is taken aback. Belos tosses her out of the room and tells her to go whiter away. Belos exits with the covered up mirror. He takes the cover off again and tells the Collector he can’t let anyone have access to his power again. He tosses the mirror over the edge. The Collector yells “liar” over and over as it falls below.

Belos goes back to the bubble Kikimora brought and knows it’s Luz inside. The bubble bursts and she stays on the ground, confusing Belos. He asks her if she has no fight left in her. Luz begins using sigils to attack Belos.

The airship is approaching when Alador and Hunter’s sigils begin to glow. King looks out as a guard ship orders them to land immediately. Gus casts an illusion. The guards fire but miss. Hunter attacks the guard but an Abomaton knocks him off his staff. Flapjack goes after him but Willow grabs him. Amity turns off the Abomatons with a remote and Gus lets the illusion down. More ships begin firing on them, causing them to head towards the ground.

The ceremony continues and the crowd continues to be excited. Lilith and Raine sit together worried when a shadow approaches. Eda looks nervous standing with the other coven heads. Eda lets her curse appear a little bit, disrupting the spell. The heads realize what Eda is up to and go after her. Ebeberwolf attacks the other heads and Darius enters the fray too. The coven heads begin to fight but ultimately capture Darius and Eberwolf. An Abomaton brings Raine, Lilith and the other CATs onto the platform. Eda calls out for Raine. The Coven heads swap Raine into the spell and it begins to grow powerful again.

Luz continues attacking Belos but he’s able to avoid all of her attacks. He’s surprised she was able to combine glyphs already as it took him a long time to figure it out. Belos grabs Luz and says he wants to help her despite their differences. He says he can send her home. Luz calls him a hypocrite. She says he’s done everything to try to protect humanity but he is barely human anymore. Belos says he pities her for letting the witches there corrupt her mind and says he should just put her out of her misery. He begins to petrify her.

Luz searches the room for something to help her. She spots a sigil glove. She begins to tell Belos that witch hunters aren’t really a thing anymore in the human realm. No one is going to take him seriously if he’s ranting about a demon realm and wearing clothes like the ones he does. Belos tosses Luz at the table she was eying earlier. She hides the glove behind her as Belos approaches. Her body continues turning into stone. She offers him a deal. She’ll return to the human realm and be his guide if he spares her friends. Just as she’s about to be fully engulfed, Belos reverses the petrification and agrees to her terms. She tells him to shake on it. She reveals her hands are empty. As she shakes his hand, she brands Belos with a sigil. Luz releases her breath to reveal she’s been cloaking the glove.

The eclipse is in full form. The sky turns red and the Coven head’s sigils begin to drain the magic. Darius cries out that they’re too late. They all fall to their knees in pain. All of the crowd’s magic begins to drain through the coven heads. The Abomatons seal off the exits, trapping everyone inside. Belos begins writhing in pain as his magic is also drained. Luz tells him that he’ll never make it out if he doesn’t stop the draining spell. Belos’ true wild form appears.

King wakes up and sees the rest of the airship party picking themselves up from the wreckage. Alador fends off Abomatons. The kids run off leaving him to hold them off. King keeps going in and out of consciousness. They arrive and find the coven heads all unconscious. Amity uses the Abomaton remote to free Eda from the Abomaton holding her. Willow tries to get Eda to wake up. Amity says they have to get to the head and save Luz.

At the portal door, Luz backs away from the creature Belos has become. She begs him to stop the spell again. He goes to attack her but strikes the portal door. It begins to flicker. Luz uses an invisibility spell to slip by the monster. She lures it out of the room. It catches up to Luz and tells her they don’t belong there. Luz yells back that she’s not like him.

Just then, Willow summons vines to hold Belos down. Amity asks if Luz really thought they wouldn’t follow after her. Belos begins to break free. Amity protects Luz from a falling stone. Gus puts King down and tells him to wait there. King tells him that he can help, but Gus is already gone. Belos breaks free but the kids team up to hold him down again.

King falls down a flight of stairs and comes upon Kikimora who tells him it’s all pointless. She says only the Collector can stop the draining spell now. King asks who the Collector is. She says he’s a child from the stars, neither witch or human. She said Belos thought no one heard him talking to the Collector, but she was listening and could tell Belos was afraid of him. King tells her to take him to the Collector. She gladly agrees, knowing it’ll help kick the Emperor’s butt!

The battle rages on above. Belos counties breaking free. More magic slows him down. Gus uses an illusion to get into his head, and he lashes out. Hunter grabs Gus out of the way of an attack. Suddenly Belos’ human form appears and asks Hunter why he’s trying to hurt him. Before an answer can come, he spots Hunter’s palisman. He shifts back and screams “kill him”.

Kikimora and King reach the bottom. It is littered with skulls and golden guard masks. Kikimora says this is where all the failures end up . The mirror lies at the edge of the room. King approaches. He touches it and the Collector emerges. He tells King that he doesn’t associate with liars. He says he knows someone is there but why can’t he see him. From the perspective of the Collector, only King’s shadow is visible. King’s symbol on his collar begins glowing. He takes it off and the Collector can see him. He says that King looks like the guy who trapped him in the mirror. He then asks if he’s the Titan’s baby. The Collector says he always wanted to play with King but his father hid him from him. The Collector tries to get King to play hide and seek.

King stops him and asks the Collector to help stop the draining spell. He calls King no fun. King suddenly gets an idea. He asks the Collector if he’s ever played a game called “The Owl House”. The Collector is intrigued. King continues saying they need an entire island of players, but everyone is about to perish. So he guesses they can’t play and begins to walk off. The Collector is intrigued and says King a Titan so he can free him to stop the spell, then they can play. He then stops and asks if he’s tricking him like Philip did. King goes to pinky swear when the Collector gets super cagey and tells King to follow his lead.  King touches the mirror and it begins to glow and crack. The room lights up.

Eda wakes up in pain. Her sigil finally begins draining as the curse can no long keep it at bay. Raine grabs her and says that they promised a special kid they’d protect her. Raine snaps off Eda’s detachable arm and it turns to dust. Eda is no longer affected by the spell. Raine collapses in Eda’s arms.

The mirror cracks, freeing the Collector.

As Belos is about to strike the group of kids, he is stopped. The collector in a mortal form holds Belos’ spiked hand with little effort. Belos backs away seeing the Collector. Belos nervously says that he’s free. The Collector doesn’t buy his fake excitement. He asks if Belos wants to play tag. He touches Belos and instantly flings him into the wall like nothing, turning Belos into goo. He turns to the kids asking if they want a head start. King jumps between them and reminds him of the deal they made. The Collector still has to help all of King’s friends outside or they can’t play The Owl House. Luz begins to play along saying how fun the game is. Amity says the memories last a lifetime. Willow and Gus rave about playing it all the time. Hunter nervously squeals. King says he’ll explain the rules later but they need lots of players first. The Collector looks out at the crowd all in pain. He agreed. He “boops” the moon out of the way of the sun with little effort, ending the eclipse and the spell.

The Collector says if they are going to play Owl House then they’re going to need an Owl House. He begins floating and the room begins to break up and change form. Willow spots the portal door and says she thinks there’s a way out.  They begin running but Luz stops. Amity grabs her. Luz says she can’t leave Eda and everyone. Amity begs her to come. She agrees. The kids jump across broken pieces of the room floating apart. Hunter stops as he approaches the puddle of goo which was once Belos. Gus calls out to him and he begins running again. A piece of the goo falls onto Hunter’s shoulder.

The door begins losing energy and flickers. It begins crumbling. It momentarily begins working again and Hunter opens the door. The mirror-like portal shifts into a stormy night sky. Gus says it’s human rain and that it’s ok. Gus, Willow and Hunter run through. Amity stops at the door frame and calls out to Luz. She looks back and sees Luz is holding the room together with her plant spells to keep the door open long enough for them to all get through. King clings to her back. Amity asks what she’s doing. Gus, Willow and Hunter begin appearing in and out on the other side of the door. Luz says she has to get Eda. Once she does, they’ll find a way back to them.

The collector notices what is going on. Luz tells them to hurry and that she can’t hold the portal much longer. The Collector begins pulling King saying that he pinky swore they’d play together. Luz tries to grab King as he floats off. Luz cries out that they have to stick together. King apologizes saying he’s sorry, not this time, but he can keep her safe. He tells Luz he’s so happy he had her as a big sister. King lets out a giant WEH. The kids all fly through the portal door and end up in the human realm. The portal closes as Luz calls out to King and tries to run towards him. Luz opens and closes the house door, but it’s too late, it’s just a normal door again.

Thunder rumbles in the distance. Luz stares in shock. Gus begins crying. The other kids remain frozen, in shock at what just happened.

Camila stirs a pot on the stove as Vee sits at the table. A knock at the door disturbs her. She gasps when she opens the door and sees Luz along with Amity, Willow, Gus and Hunter. Luz shyly says that she’s back.

Thunder and rain continue as the credits roll over the open door where the portal door let them through. Drops suddenly fall from the ceiling and close the door.

Wooooow.

What a finale. The range of emotions I went through watching was incredible. It had everything! Humor, pain, struggle, sacrifice, fear, and so much more! What a way to end the season.

Let’s start at the Day of Unity. We knew Belos was aware of the CATs plans, but it still hurt seeing the well thought out plan fall apart in front of them. It was heartbreaking seeing Raine and Lilith so worried about Eda as the plan was initially in motion. Then once they were caught, Raine’s pain and strain to protect Eda was heartbreaking. The way Raine was able to save Eda by snapping off her arm was a great twist. I’m glad they showed her taking it off earlier in the episode, setting the stage for the reveal. Now that the draining ceremony was halted, what is going to happen to the remaining magic. Is Eda’s curse still there? Did the people of the Boiling Isles lose too much? Did halting it before it completed just negate the effects? What are the Coven Heads going to do now that everything they believed in was a lie. How will the crowd, guards and scouts react to the betrayal and lies they were fed? So much to explore in the season three specials!

The way the kids were able to team up together to try and take on Belos was a great moment. The group has bonded and become a solid unit in the face of so many struggles and battles they’ve had to face together. How are they going to handle being in the human realm while all of their families and friends are still stuck behind in the demon realm. This is all new for them and will likely cause for some intense emotions when the show returns.

After Belos was turned to goo, we saw a piece of it go through the portal door on Hunter’s back. Will he be able to reform in the human realm? Will this be a lesson to him? If he’s able to reform, will he be a changed man? How will he adjust to the human realm and all the advancements it has made over the years?

Luz is home now. Camila must have so many conflicted thoughts herself. Once Luz explains everything that happened, will she be okay with her trying to get back to the demon realm to save her friends? Or will she be a protective mom and try to keep her safe and out of harm’s way?

The Collector ended up being even scarier than I had ever imagined. He is recklessly powerful. How can anyone take him on when he can move the sun without batting an eye. What does it mean that he’s a child of the stars? We know of the two realms, human and demon. Is there another realm? Or is this something different. I fear for King. How long will he be able to keep up the ruse of playing a game with the Collector? He now has all the “players” for the game, so how will he keep everyone safe. The Collector could lash out in ways we don’t even know yet. He took out Belos so easily, how can the rest keep him at bay. Maybe Eda, Lilith and Raine can figure it out.

It’s going to be emotional once everyone hopefully reunites at some point. They’re going to eventually have to come together to take on the Collector right? Will Kind’s Titan powers be able to take him on? The Collector mentioned that it was King’s father who was the one to capture him in the mirror. We also know there is a symbol which keeps the Collector from being able to see the person wearing it like King was before. It also makes sense why the Collector was not able to see King and kept asking if someone was there when King visited him in the darkness.

So many thoughts, ideas and theories I’m sure will come in the months ahead as we await the final season three special episodes. This show has had such an incredible run so far, I know the conclusion will be thrilling, emotional and well worth the wait. It’s a shame we won’t be getting a full season or more than 3 special episodes, but it’s better than not getting a proper conclusion. I know the crew will deliver with whatever comes next. I’ll eagerly await the finale!

The Owl House Season 2 can be streamed on Disney Now. Most episodes are also available to stream on Disney+.

Disney took their time this week uploading “Clouds on the Horizon” to Disney Now. Therefore I wasn’t able to upload this review earlier in the week. As we head into the season finale tomorrow, it still feels timely to publish this now!

Part one of the season finale has arrived! We’re heading into the Day of Unity finally after teasing it for the bulk of the second half of the season. Our heroes have managed to find allies in their fight against Belos and his evil plans. It is up to them now to try to get through to others to reveal the truth. Will Amity be able to get through to her parents about Belos and what he’s really up to. Do they want to be a part of the evil he is about to unleash? All that and more is addressed in this thrilling lead up to the season finale.

Belos is putting the finishing touches on the door. The key with the Titan Blood dangles from his neck. The collector laughs and asks Belos if he’s nervous about his plans. The collector taunts Belos about how he can barely keep a human form and asks him what if the world changed since he left it all those years ago. Belos attacks the Collector, but he dodges. The Collector gloats about how excited he is to finally be free of his prison. He asks Belos to free him now, but Belos says he needs to make sure the draining spell works like the Collector promised. The two look out of the Titan head and announce that the Day of Unity is upon us.

Amity’s mom taunts Kikimora for her demotion, but tells her she always liked her more than the Golden Guard turncoat. Kikimora flies off. Amity, Ed and Em emerge from behind a rock. Amity is going to tell her mom about the draining spell but her siblings warn her she might not care. Amity’s dad approaches Odalia and asks why there’s so much security. Alador questions if they should pull out. Odalia says that Blights always uphold their end of the deal. She threatens him that she’ll involve the kids in the business. He walks off, disgusted. Amity thinks maybe she can get through to her dad and turns and finds herself suddenly alone. Odalia catches Amity and already has Ed and Em being held by an abomination. She proclaims Amity is grounded.

At The CATs headquarters, Luz gets a message from Amity telling her to come quick and that she’s grounded. King brings a box of disguises for the team. Lilith is excited but Hooty isn’t going to be tricked into wearing clothes!! King offers to help since he’s a Titan but Eda cuts him off, saying that it has to stay a secret between the five of them. King looks sad. Darius calls a meeting to go over the plans. Raine begins laying out the plan of attack. The Day of Unity begins in 24 hours. Everyone with a coven sigil will be taken out by the spell since it uses the magic of the nine houses. It is channeled through the coven heads during the eclipse. Belos has replacements for the heads should they go off script. Darius states that they can’t stop the spell but they can corrupt it. Eda’s curse warps magic, so she will be key. Darius will make a commotion using his abominations and sneak her into the tower. Eda will have to tap into the spell directly and take the place of a coven head, Raine’s specifically, sigil included. She would be flanked by Darius and Eberwolf so they can keep an eye out and incur it all goes according to plan. Lilith offers to use her curse in place of Eda. Eda stops her and says she hasn’t had her curse long enough and she has to be the one to do it.

Luz stands outside, looking out into the distance and gets more messages from Amity. Eda, along with King, approaches and gives Luz her carved palisman. It is in the shape of an egg. Eda asks why she carved it into that shape. Luz says she got to decide what her future looked like when she chose to be a witch and she wants her palisman to have that option too. Until then she is willing to wait. So cute and clever! Luz asks Eda if she’s ready. Eda questions the coven concept again but says she knows if joining one is the best way to stop everything, then she’s going to do it. Luz is distracted looking at the messages from Amity and Eda can read her like a book. She knows Luz wants to go save her girlfriend. Luz says of course she wants to but she wants to be there for Eda too. Eda encourages her to go and that Luz, King and Eda will all see each other again after they succeed. The three bond over their pending legendary status as King The Titan, Luz the Human and Eda the Owl Lady. The three embrace.

Raine approaches the three and calls for Eda to get moving. As they leave, Luz grabs Raine’s arm and makes them promise they’ll protect Eda. Raine rallies the troops and the group hisses like cats, invoking their name. Darius still isn’t amused.

The group heads off on their assignments. Luz and King get dropped off for security escorts. Luz objects at first until she sees Willow and Gus as her escorts. Luz questions why they aren’t hiding when Hunter comes out of the shadows. Luz is surprised to see him handling things as well as he is after everything he learned about Belos. Gus and Hunter do a special handshake and Luz is surprised they bonded. Willow tells her this is what happens when she goes missing for a week!

Hunter pulls Luz aside and asks her not to mention that he’s a Grimwalker. He’s not sure if he’s a witch or human, but all he knows is that he’s a copy of someone that Belos made disappear. Luz is sure they’d understand the truth, but he asks if she told them she helped Philip. He begs her not to say anything. Luz slowly nods.

The group arrives at the Blight’s house. Gus spots a hidden guard using an illusion. Luz casts a plant spell taking him out. They run to the door but are stopped by an abomination. It grabs Luz, and King goes to help her. Hunter attacks the monster and Willow uses plant magic to destroy it. They get to Amity’s window and Luz blushes. She uses a plant spell to lift herself to her balcony.

In the room, Amity, Ed and Em try to find a way to get through to their mom. They’ve tried different things but in the end, they realize money wins out for their mom. Amity again says that their dad would listen. Amity gets upset because she wants to make sure Luz is safe. Her mom destroyed her device so she can’t message her anymore. Em asks Amity what Luz would tell her if she were there right now. Amity knows it would be something dorky like Amity might be scared now but don’t let it stop her. As Amity goes on, Ed and Em see something and hop off the bed. Amity continues pacing the room saying she wouldn’t want the world to end before she and Luz go on a real date. Luz interrupts and proclaims she would say all of that! The two embrace and Luz promises she’ll take her on a date when this is all over. Amity kisses Luz. They both blush and can’t believe it.

Amity gets sad thinking about her parents helping Belos. Amity asks Luz if she’ll help tell her parents about the draining spell. Luz doesn’t hesitate. She tells her of course she’ll help.

Raine looks worried as they watch Eda prepare for their plans. Raine asks if Eda is sure she wants to get the sigil. She will never be able to practice wild magic again if she goes through with it. Eda says she knows her curse is never going away so if she can do this to help, she’s in. Steve gives Eda her cloaking device. It won’t change her voice, so he tells her to not say too much. Raine is taken aback by how good the illusion is. Eda gets her sigil and Raine still looks conflicted.

Kikimora arrives at the factory and is greeted by Odalia. Gus casts an illusion making the group look like guards. Luz tells King to stay and if anyone asks, he’s guarding the perimeter. King goes to object, but Luz runs off before he can get a word out. He sadly sits down.

Suddenly, he’s pulled into the darkness and hears The Collector again. The Collector is questioning if Belos will stay true to his word. King comes back to the world and spots a trail of chips.

In the factory, Kikimora says she’s not interested in the Blight’s dumb gadgets. Odalia goes into sales mode and suddenly Kikimora is interested in the newest abomination model. This one is specifically made just for Kikimora. She’s suddenly excited. Amity shows the group to her father’s workroom. It appears empty inside. Amity’s mom catches them snooping. Hunter improvises but Kikimora recognizes his voice. They try to run but get trapped. Gus trips, suddenly dropping their illusions and revealing their true forms.

The other group arrives at their destination and witnesses the guards rounding up wild witches. They are being sent to the conformatorium. Eda is enraged at what she sees.

Alador sits on a swing, venting and eating chips. King still has the helmet on and listens. Alador knows this doesn’t feel right. He tells King he’s going to spend more time with his kids moving forward. He wants to get to know them better. King tells him there’s not going to be an “after”. Alador’s eyes bulge in shock.

Luz and the group are locked up. Kikimora asks Odalia if her airship is ready. Ed and Em tried to steal it, but we’re caught.  Amity calls out to them. Odalia says they’ll be grounded too. Amity tries to get through to her mom, but she brushes her off again. She asks if Amity is trying to make her look bad. Luz gets angry and tells her Amity is trying to help people. Odalia tells Luz to hush. Amity lashes out, telling Odalia not to talk to her girlfriend like that. Odalia says Luz won’t do, and that she will find Amity a new girlfriend. Amity suddenly loses it, and breaks free of her abomination handcuffs. She tries to break through the bubble confinement, holding the group locked up. Kikimora approaches Hunter and says she always knew he was rotten. She says maybe Belos will make her the new Golden Guard after she hands him over. Luz comes to his defense too. Kikimora reveals she knows that the rest of her friends are at the Day of Unity. She says the Emperor has eyes everywhere. UH OH!

Luz turns to Gus and whispers a new plan to him. Amity continues trying to break the bubble when it suddenly breaks open. She questions if the power of believing in herself did it in an adorable moment. Alador enters with King in tow and reveals he did it, but says that Amity almost had it!  Alador reveals to Odalia what Belos is really up to. She doesn’t flinch. She already knew. Alador grows enraged. Odalia says they’ll live like royalty being in the Emperor’s favor in the new world. Alador says this is too much and activates the abomitrons. They encircle Odalia but she uses her magic to grab the controller from Alador.

Kikimora says she doesn’t have time for this and goes to attack the kids. She grabs Hunter and runs off. Amity used abomination magic to stop Kikimora in her tracks. Willow summons plant magic and targets kikimora. Kikimora uses Hunter as a shield and Willow stops before it hits him. Gus casts an illusion. Kikimora fires in all directions. She makes a hole in the roof and flies off with Hunter.

The abominations surround the kids and Alador. Amity approaches her mom and tells her she’s never speaking to her again. Odalia says what she’s doing is best for the family. Alador counters, saying that what’s best for the family is putting an end to all of this. He uses his abomination magic to destroy the robots and the factory. Odalia calls out for him to stop but he doesn’t. She drops the remote and he deactivates the rest of the robots. She tells him he’s destroying their life’s work. She goes to attack him but the kids all come to his side with their magic ready to go. He tells Odalia that quits and she storms off saying she wanted a more competent partner anyway.

Once Odalia is gone, Alador relaxes and says that was terrifying. Amity comes to his side. Willow looks pissed and runs towards the airship. Amity calls out to her and they all chase after her. Alador offers to help provide a pilot to go rescue their friend. He also apologizes to Luz saying she’s always welcome in their house. Suddenly Luz shifted into Hunter. He apologizes, saying it all happened so fast he didn’t even realize what was happening until she was gone. Gus drops his arms, exhausted. He reveals Luz wanted to protect them and Eda, and came up with the plan on the fly.

Kikimora flies towards the Day of Unity with “Hunter” locked away. Luz’s real form suddenly appears. She’s flying right to Belos. The usual end credits do not play. Instead, the scene continues with Luz on board the ship, heading right towards Belos, credit rolling over the continuing scene, as eerie silence plays in the background.

Wow. That’s how you lead into a season finale! Lots to unpack from this episode! First and foremost, Luz has gone rogue! She knows their plans are all ruined now, so she needs to improvise, and fast, if she wants to protect the rest of the CATs heading into a trap. She wants to protect Eda and her friends all at the same time. Sacrificing herself in the form of Hunter saved him from the wrath of Belos for now. It also gives them an upper hand since Belos won’t know what is going on now with the rest of the kids.

Raine seems very protective of Eda still. They didn’t want Eda to have to give up what she believes in even though it’s the best shot they have at stopping Belos. Eda is alright with the plan as long as in the end, they can stop Belos. They don’t know they’re walking into a trap now, so hopefully Luz can fill them in before it is too late!

Odalia is such an evil person. The way she treated her kids, her husband and Luz was despicable. She is so blinded by power that she thinks everything she is doing is in the best interest of those she loves, even if they can’t understand it. The vile things she said, the way she treated Luz when she found out they were dating, and everything else was so hard to watch. There’s no rationalizing anything she did. Amity will not forgive her for what she has done. At least we now have Alador on the side of good!

It was interesting how The Collector and Belos’ fates are so intertwined. They both need things from one another. If one side fails, the other does too. I’m scared to find out what the Collectors true plans are. Its fascinating how King is continually able to tap into the Collector’s thoughts, even though he doesn’t know how to control it. The two are connected in a way we don’t know yet.

I loved the way the kids all had each others backs in their plans to save Amity, and then in the fight in the factory. The stances they all took to defend Alador was epic! The way they all stepped up was truly impressive. Plus, the moment Amity saw Luz was there to rescue here was precious. Their kiss was emotional, and their plans for the future were so sweet. They’re so cute together and have really brought out the best in each other.

The plans are all laid now for the Day of Unity. I’m scared, excited, nervous and thrilled to see what they throw at us in the season finale. I can’t believe we’re finally here. Season two has been such a phenomenal ride so far! It’s such a shame season three is an abbreviated one with multiple specials. It truly deserves more time and episodes to lay out the story it wants to tell. They’ve done wonders so far, so I have such high hopes that the finale and final season will be nothing less than epic!

Last week we saw Willow, Gus, Amity and Hunter see first hand how Belos and his coven wants to control everyone into submitting to his power. In the end, we see they’re against this notion and Hunter reveals the ultimate truth about Belos and his plans. Bump is in the know now and hopefully that group will be a key in pushing back against the Day of Unity, Belos and The Collector. We didn’t get to see what Luz was up to last week, so this week we pick up with her King and Hooty, tie it in together with Eda and Lilith, and get some deep emotional punches. The pieces are beginning to fall into place even more.

King awakens as a projection in the In Between Realm. The Collector begins to laugh saying that he’s almost free. King calls out trying to figure out where he is but gets no answer. The Collector suddenly hears his voice. King begins to leave his projection as the Collector calls out to him to wait. King wakes up on the ship with Luz and Hooty. They’ve arrived back in Bonesborough. King looks out at the Titans’ remains looking worried.

Once the crew is off the ship, Luz sees messages from Amity. King tells Luz it’s okay if she wants to check on Amity and that he can head back home on his own. Luz remembers the hard time he had just gone through, learning he’s a Titan and all and suddenly looks upset.

Hooty notices wanted signs are up for Eda, Lilith, King, Luz and Hooty. They decide to take the long way home to avoid getting spotted. As they get close to home, they see scouts carrying confiscated items from the house, one item being Francois. They run to the house and find it empty. Luz spots a note with a hidden message on it saying they’re hiding at the knee.

Lilith and Eda brainstorm how to stop the Day of Unity. They bicker like sisters. Suddenly they hear a noise that someone has tripped a booby trap. Luz, King and Hooty are tangled up, caught in a trap. Luz tells Eda and Lilith that the letter was sent by Titan Trappers and the whole ordeal they went through. Eda rubs the news in Lilith’s face to get back at her for saying there was nothing at that location. Luz reveals that King is a Titan and the two sisters gasp.

Eda and Luz talk about everything and wish they could do to comfort King more. Lilith is very excited to learn the truth about King. She thinks maybe he can help in their fight against Belos. Eda shuts the idea down quickly. Luz asks if they have come up with a plan yet. Not wanting to disappoint Luz, Eda says it’s a secret. Lilith tells Eda they need to be honest with the kids but Eda just wants them to have one nice day. Eda asks them what they want to do today and King just wants things to be normal. Luz wants to go on a heist.

Lilith brings tea to King who is uncomfortable with the new attention from her. He gets freaked out by her new attitude towards him. He tells her he just wants some alone time. She bows and takes Hooty with her.

Eda and Luz fly towards the precinct where she thinks their confiscated items are located. Luz wants to rescue Francois for King to cheer him up. In town, guards are everywhere. Luz spots them carting items into the precinct. Eda says things are different now that Belos knows they know the truth and that they have to be inconspicuous if they want to stay alive. They dress up as guards and ask to see the Owl Lady’s confiscated items.

In town, King wanders sadly bumping into people. He runs into Steve and asks why he’s not helping Belos. Steve tells king he always wanted to join the coven but realized it’s not everything he thought it would be. King understands. Steve questions how Belos can know what the Titan wants and even speculates that maybe he’s just a normal guy dressed up. Steve offers King a spot in his side car on his motorcycle and King accepts the offer. The two drive off together.

Lilith questions her interactions with King and Hooty tells her that he just wants to be treated normally. Just then Hooty realizes King is gone.

At the precinct Eda and Luz ask for the key to the warehouse and easily get it from a guard who could care less. Eda questions why they’re being so lucky. They reach the location and decide to split up to cover more ground. Eda tells Luz if things get heated Luz should fly out as fast as she can. She sadly agrees, taking her staff.

While looking around, Eda overhears a scout reporting they secured Eda’s items but didn’t find her. Raine is on the other end of the discussion, saying to alert them when they find Eda.

In a montage, King and Steve reach an abandoned area and King hugs one of the Titans bones. He hops back into the sidecar and they drive off again. Hooty and Lilith arrive at the location, just missing them. King and Steve then play in the ocean and skip rocks. Steve spots a cute elderly couple and begins crying. King comforts him. They drive off again and Lilith and Hooty arrive just a little too late again. They spot tire tracks and continue after the two. Steve and King help a family repair their tire and then they arrive at the head of the Titan. Lilith and Hooty are still on their tails.

Eda hides, overhearing Raine’s conversation. When the guard exits, Eda calls Raine back. She tells them she’s not trying to start trouble but Raine notes she’s wearing a stolen uniform. Eda tries to reach out and tells them she knows they still care and are trying to help. Eda tells them she knows about the Day of Unity and the draining spell. Eda asks Raine to help and says she’s doing it for her kids. Aww. Eda says the kids can’t be around during the Day of Unity. She asks Raine to lock them up or whatever they can do to keep them safe. Eda offers to turn herself in right now if they agree. They get interrupted by Terra and Raine quickly ends the conversation.

Luz stands in the doorway holding Francois and asks if Eda is sending her away. Luz gets upset and raises her voice catching the attention of a guard nearby. Luz can’t believe Eda is still underestimating her after all they’ve been through. Luz storms off. Eda turns into the Owl Beast and flies to her, telling her she’s going with Raine. Luz says Eda can’t make her. Luz uses a glyph and flies off with Owlbert. Eda chases after and calls for Owlbert. Luz falls to the ground. Luz uses a fire glyph to blind Eda temporarily. Luz sneaks off with an invisibility spell, but knocks into a box, revealing her location. Eda begs her to stop but Luz uses an ice glyph to slide past her. Eda smashes the ice, sending Luz tumbling. Eda catches up to Luz and tells her that Raine will keep her safe and King will join her soon Just then something hits Eda. Guards launch attacks and they capture Luz and then Eda.

King and Steve sit next to the motorcycle eating burgers and fries. King tells Steve he always wanted power and respect and to be feared. Now that he has it, he feels off. Steve tells him that wants can change and so can people. King doesn’t want to be seen as a big scary monster anymore. Steve tells him he feels the same way, taking off his mask and revealing his face. Lilith arrives and tells the scout to hand over King, but then realizes it’s Steve. Lilith goes to praise King again and he begs her to stop. He reminds her that he is still King. He realizes this is a pattern with her having seen how she acted around the Emperor. Steve offers to give her the name of a good therapist. Hooty goes into attack mode thinking Steve is tricking Lilith and attacks Steve.

At the precinct, Eda and Luz are locked up. A scout tells them that an envoy is coming to collect Luz. Eda is going to be taken away for petrification. Luz asks Eda if she’s happy now that neither of them can stop Belos, her eyes full of tears. Luz asks why Eda wouldn’t let her help with her plan. Eda reveals there is no plan, tears in her eyes too. Luz gasps. Eda says the two sisters don’t have magic or allies and that they’re useless. They just have Luz and King and Eda was going to do everything she could to keep them safe.

Luz gets tossed into the back of a cart and she tells Eda she will do whatever she says now as long as Eda fights back. She begs with tears in her eyes. The cart takes off and Luz is now angry. The cart suddenly stops and Luz kicks the doors open. She tries to run but is caught by an abomination. She demands to be brought to Eda and if they hurt her she’ll— Eda cuts Luz off and says it’s okay. Eda, Lilith, King, Raine, Steve and a group of others stand together. Darius and Eberwolf are also there. Darius sets her down with his abomination magic.

Raine introduces themself saying they’ve heard a lot about Luz, and that Eda has been bragging about her for hours. Awww. Luz gets super excited to meet them. Raine finally reveals that when Darius captured them he was protecting them. Darius initially thought he was the only one who found the Day of Unity to be suspicious, but then brought Raine into his thoughts.

Steve approaches Lilith and asks if she knew any of this was happening when she was in charge. Lilith is taken aback. She says she’s starting to think she wasn’t good at her job.

Eda asks why Raine didn’t fill her in because she could have helped. Raine responds saying they wanted to keep her safe, but because she’s Eda, she wasn’t going to stop until she made things right. Raine and the rest have come up with a plan to stop Belos. Before they can reveal it, Luz wants to make sure they have a cool rebel group name. In fact, they do! Raine says they’re The Covens Against the Throne. Aka The CATS. The group hisses together. Darius makes it known he didn’t agree to the name! Luz pulls her cat hoodie over her head and says everything has come full circle.

At The CATs hideout base, the group sits together, unwinding from their rescue mission. Luz and Eda sit together off to the side and give King Francois. Eda reveals the box she also saved while at the precinct. Inside the box is the Palistrom Wood. Eda hands Luz a carving knife saying it is time for her to make her Palisman. Luz hesitates saying the Day of Unity is only two days away. She has to focus and help stop Belos. Eda pulls Luz in for a hug and reminds her this isn’t all on her. They’re a team and they have other teammates now. Luz wonders what if the Palisman doesn’t like her. King reminds her she’s befriended more enemies than he has claws. Eda continues saying she’s constantly learning and fighting, so what’s not to like? Luz blushes and gets emotional, thanking her and says she thinks she’s ready to carve now. Eda begins to teach Luz how to carve the wood. King asks if Luz is going to carve him. Haha. Eda says they’ll take it slow and that they have all the time in the world.

I really enjoyed how the unexpected pairing of Steve and King was a highlight of the episodes. The two were able to bond over different feelings they were having, yet understood what the other was going through. It was an important learning moment for both of them. Plus it helped them sort through their feelings rather than having them stay bottled up inside. King was overwhelmed by Lilith’s praising of him and in the end he was able to tell her to cut it out because it made him feel uncomfortable. In a way it also helped Lilith see she has her own issues she needs to sort through still.

It was heartbreaking seeing Luz’s reaction to Eda wanting to send her away. Luz is ready to fight for her family and those she loves. She feels personally connected to the fight against Belos since she played a part in his rise to power. There’s so many moments where you can see and feel the emotions coming off of these characters. They want to do what’s best within their own power.

It was interesting seeing Eda beg Raine to help, when Luz was doing the exact same thing to her. Eda is so blinded to save her kids, she doesn’t want to even entertain them helping at first. The same way Raine doesn’t want Eda getting in trouble or hurt. Everyone wants to look out for those they love.

In the end, Eda got what she wanted momentarily, allowing Luz to have a moment to not worry. They can carve Luz’s Palisman together. I wonder what it is going to end up being. A cat would be too obvious, no? Or would it be just the right amount of perfect?! Either way I eagerly await that reveal!

It’s hilarious that they named the rebel group The CATs. The moment Luz pulled her hoodie up I cracked up. It’s good to know there is this group helping to push back against Belos that is coming from within the castle. Our group now has these allies, plus we have the allies Hunter, Amity, Willow and Gus were able to form at Hexide last week. There seems to be a growing coalition that will be able to push back against Belos and his plans in these final two episodes.

It feels like there is so much to cram into these final two episodes of the season! I’m glad we know we have the final “season three” specials to give full closure to the series so if they don’t answer everything, we’ll eventually get more. Bring on next week’s episode!

The Owl House Season 2 airs Saturday mornings on Disney Channel. New episodes can be streamed on Disney Now.

This season has been divisive amongst the fandoms. There’ve been a myriad of complaints ranging from the Kyle/Lana drama, the lack of meaningful scenes between Clark and Lois, lackluster villains and the X-K story, but this episode was the breaking point for a lot of fans. What about this episode made Reddit and Twitter enraged fans? It is the writing for Clark and Jonathan.

Does Clark Even Like Jonathan?

Clark being a bad father to Jonathan isn’t a new problem. I’ve talked about it many times in my writings here. It started with episode two when Clark took Jordan to the Fortress and never even considered taking Jonathan. This wasn’t used for dramatic purposes to give Jonathan something he could rightfully take his father to task for. The narrative presented it as acceptable like the normie being at the Fortress would be unheard of and weird. The show continued this narrative of Clark favoring Jordan with only the occasional snide remark from Jonathan about Jordan being Superboy.

I began to hope Superman & Lois would address the favoritism they wrote over two seasons when Jon-El told Bizarro that he only cared about him when he got powers. A sentiment that Jonathan echoed to Clark in this episode when he said maybe he’d respect him if he had powers. Alas, the writers were tiptoeing around this issue just for plot reasons. They needed Jonathan to get snippy about Clark’s lying so Clark could reveal to Lana his secret.

Why make an episode that should be Clark’s relationship with his son as a doppelganger of said son is on the loose about Clark’s best friend? What type of galaxy brain thinking was this? Was this the same thinking that got us Clark lecturing Jonathan about integrity and misrepresenting the family when he was caught for huffing space rocks? Where was the concern for his son’s health? Clark was focused on optics and his only feelings and not the health of his son or even why he felt the need to take X-K.

Clark wasn’t even willing to take Jonathan to the Fortress to protect him. He gave the excuse that Jon-El could see what Jonathan could see. Did the show forget about Lara putting Bizarro in a containment field? She could do the same with Jon-El. Though that would mean Jonathan would be allowed at the Fortress and we can’t have that. That’s only for people with powers and Lois when Clark wants to propose.

Jonathan just existed to propel the Lana plot forward and be a damsel in distress so Jordan could have a cool moment saving the day. They could have had Jonathan stab Jon-El with X-K while trying to merge, but that would give Jonathan an active moment in the episode and give him a win. It isn’t a surprise this writing team wouldn’t want that.

There’s only four episodes left in this season and my hopes of the show addressing this issue in a satisfying way are nil. I don’t think this show is ever going to have Clark apologize for his favoritism because they don’t see it as favoritism. They see it as Jordan’s due as the rightful heir. The most I can expect is a hug and the status quo of Jonathan being treated like a stepson by his own father continuing into season three. Someone needs to ask Todd Helbing if he rooted for Lady Tremaine in Cinderella because it sure seems like he’d be wondering why Cinderella would even want to go to the ball when it wasn’t for her. Cinderella should just be happy that Lady Tremaine is even talking to her and letting her live in the house!

Lana Learns The Man She Went To 2nd Base With In High School Is Superman

While I loathed using Jonathan as a plot point to get Clark to reveal the secret to Lana, the actual scene itself was nice. The show continued the visual motif of Clark taking off the glasses and flying. Though this time instead of lifting a truck, he used his freeze breath on a tree. Lois only got flying for her reveal, so I guess Clark felt it best to keep it simple for the woman he had been lying to while dating and not flex too much.

Lana must feel like an idiot. She’s known Clark all her life. Her daughter was dating his son. They probably watched Masters of the Universe and G.I. Joe together while eating Martha’s cookies as children in the 80’s. It would be mind bending to learn your best friend was Superman. It would make you question your entire friendship with that person.

I do think it was time for Lana to learn the secret. You can only have the secret contained for so long from the supporting cast that aren’t in the Kent/Lane and Irons families. It would also be cruel to not let Lana know about a doppelganger that could come wanting to merge with her. That’s information she should have and give her X-K she can stab Bizarro Lana with.

I don’t want the whole cast to know. Keep Kyle and Chrissy in the dark so you can have a few cast members Clark has to pretend to be a normal guy with. It is inevitable that Sarah learns the truth but let that be season three or season four.

Jordan, Future Reddit Incel

After getting dumped by Sarah, Jordan became that guy who blows up your phone with texts trying to get you to talk to him. This is realistic for a teen boy dumped by his first love. It gets so bad that Lois takes his phone and advises him to write a letter to Sarah which he does and contains the secret that he’s Superman’s son. Unfortunately for him, Jordan tries to give Sarah the letter when her mother is missing. She isn’t really in the mood for his man pain and he gets dismissed.

The fandom has been really brutal to Sarah this season, but I’ll defend her. The kissing a girl at camp was a realistic bit of teen mistakes. A girl would dump a guy when he starts being really sketchy and unwilling to talk about what’s going on. If a man wanted to talk about our relationship while my mother was missing, I’d never speak to him again. Sarah’s behavior is writing choices that make sense to me and not on my list of mistakes this show has made this season.

Random thoughts about “Truth & Consequences”:

  • I feel like a lack of meaningful scenes between Clark and Lois has really hurt this season. They haven’t really utilized Tyler and Bitsie’s chemistry like they did in the first season.
  • I do like that they haven’t dragged out Jordan’s powers like Smallville did with Clark. He’ll probably have a costume by season four.
  • This episode used Jonathan as a plot point, but Jordan Elsass did a good job playing both Jonathan and Jon-El.
  • John Henry really has an NFL amount of head injuries at this point.

After landing his dream film role, Sam (Sean Kanan) gets an unexpected visitor amidst his struggle to strike a balance between work and life now that he is filming double-duty. Check out our recap for Studio City’s season premiere.

An exhausted Sam who is portraying an exhausted Pierce is trying to contact his agent Bryan to help get his crazy schedule sorted out now that he is filming two roles.

Attempting to engage fans and raise ratings, producer, Gloria has arranged for behind-the-scenes interviews for the cast and crew, but they don’t go exactly as planned.

Christine is frustrated with Nik when he cares more about his process than rehearsing their scenes.

Sam finally gets a quiet moment, but it is soon interrupted by the arrival of the publicist assigned to him by his new movie studio. She is unimpressed by him and lays down the law before leaving.

No sooner has left when Gloria shows up and piles on to the bad day he’s having.

Later at the hospital, Sam tries to convince Doc to get treatment. He refuses and tries unsuccessfully to push Sam away.

Line of the episode:

“Don’t be the monkey wrench in this well oiled machined, just be my monkey.” ~ Gloria to Sam

Fun facts:

In the episode Sam Stevens says he always takes his coffee the same way, “2 Splenda’s, almond milk.”

We asked Sean Kanan, who plays Sam, if this was his coffee order too and he told us that he likes his coffee black or with Stevia and almond milk. Art doesn’t always imitate life!

Michele Kanan, Studio City writer, executive producer, supervising producer and wife of Sean Kanan, ALSO appeared in the opening scene as the patient, Minnie, who Pierce is treating on Hearts on Fire! This woman does it all!

She told us all about her role as supervising producer, “The first year we had a pretty big crew, and we did 6 episodes and then we took a break because of Covid. Then we did 5 more episodes and during those 5 episodes we were only allowed 10 people together at a time. So, I had to do pretty much everything except for sound and lights and camera. This year I did the same thing, but I had a few more people.”

Meet the characters:

Erin Michele Soto filled us in on her character Christine, who plays Anastasia, Sam’s love interest on Hearts on Fire, “My character is finding her way into the acting world and fighting for her position. She’s dealing with a man’s world and nepotism and what that looks like.”

Scott Turner Schofield who plays Max, the portrayer of Dr. Brantly on Hearts on Fire, told us, “Max is like me and not like me. There is an element of Max that we took from my real life in terms of being an actor who is transgender, who is dealing with all of that behind the scenes and in life and then there is plenty that is just acting. He is an actor who is determined, and he wants to just be an actor. That’s his number one goal in life, to shine for that talent that he has. As the co-star of Hearts on Fire, he is always navigating everybody else’s nonsense.”

Studio City season 2 is available on Amazon Prime Video! Come back next week for our recap of episode 2, America’s Abs, as well as exclusive content from cast and crew of the award-winning Studio City!

After two episodes featuring Luz gaining a lot of important information about Belos and the Day of Unity, we get an episode focusing on Hexide and her friends dealing with their own problems. Mainly focusing on Gus, with good character growth between Amity and Willow, the kids and staff of Hexide are forced to fight back for the ability to make their own choices. Plus we finally find out what happened to Hunter after being freed from Belos’ mind and him learning the truth. There’s no stopping the deep storytelling as we get even closer to the Day of Unity.

At school a younger Gus in the past is putting the final touches on a presentation. His assignment partner walks in telling his friend how he pawned it all off on Gus and he didn’t have to do any work, making fun of him. Gus hears and runs off upset. He runs into a classroom and sits behind a table. He knocks into it, dropping a book on his head. His eyes begin to glow and a projection of his inner fears and thoughts begins playing out around him. Suddenly he sees a poor excuse of an abomination say hi. Willow pops out from behind another desk. She says she thought she was the only one who hid in the room. She gives Gus some advice on how to deal with the voices in his head. Together they slow their breathing and count. The visions disappear and the two exchange names, cementing the start of their friendship.

Principal bump talks to a teacher about how students are excited about multitrack learning. A hooded figure approaches and warns it might not be for long.

At lunch, Amity shows Gus and Willow the messages she got from Luz. She can’t make them all out but Luz is trying to tell Amity about all she learned in the past few days about Belos and Titans and more. Willow says she saw scouts outside the Owl House and contemplated kidnapping one to get information but she didn’t want to draw more attention to Eda and Luz. The bell rings and Gus notices Willow and Amity are trying to be closer and that Willow is reintroducing the real her to Amity.

Gus hears a rustle from the garbage and Flapjack flies out. Gus recognizes the palisman and chases after with his own staff and palisman. They fly through the halls of the school and into the Paranormatorium which is closed for repairs. Hunter emerges from the shadows and Gus goes into a fighting stance and asks what he’s doing there. Gus notices an area Hunter has secretly been hiding out in. Hunter admits that things got complicated and he needed a place to crash. Bump announces to the school to gather for an important meeting. Gus gives Hunter his lunch and heads to the meeting.

In the auditorium, Adrian Graye introduces himself. He is the head witch of the Illusionist Coven. He announced that the Emperor is going to stop multitrack studies and will introduce every student into a coven before the Day of Unity. Bump assures the students he’s there to help. Before any scouts come Adrian is going to make temporary illusions of sigils on the students wrists. Ed gets chosen first. Gus notices Adrian’s hand glows as he’s about to perform the illusion and yells to stop. Gus knows he’s hiding behind an illusion and casts a spell disrupting the illusion. A scout is exposed to be under the spell. Bump and the teachers instantly get ready to defend the students.

The real Adrian suddenly yells to stop and more scouts appear in the room. He begins to give critiques to the scouts for their performances as if he’s a director. He grabs Gus and holds him. Adrian is about to take away his illusion track in favor of abomination. As his hand reaches for Gus, Gus casts a giant illusion in the room and Hunter suddenly bursts in, grabbing Gus. They run off. Adrian clears the illusion around him and realizes the school itself is now covered in a giant illusion. He tells the scouts to find Gus. They ask for direction in helping to track him down and Adrian belittles them. The main scout says how much he hates the guy under his breath.

Willow and Amity run through illusions together. The illusion stops changing and they don’t know how they got where they are when Willow realizes it’s all an illusion. Amity gets a text from her siblings telling her they’re all hiding together with Bump and they should join them. A scout begins to appear behind Willow and Amity yells to watch out. Just then Willow uses her plant magic to catch the scout. Amity tells her good shot, which bugs Willow. Even the scout tells her he knows she got him fair and square.

Hunter and Gus run through illusions until they crash into lockers hidden by the spell. Gus stands up with one eye glowing. He can see the illusion and the truth at the same time. He realizes his spell is still active and he doesn’t know how to undo it. He’s never cast an illusion that big before. Hunter says they should look for a teacher. Gus asks Hunter why he saved him. He’s still under the impression that Hunter works for Belos. Hunter says he owed Gus for the food. They reach a staircase and Hunter asks if the stairs are real or not. He suddenly falls down the stairs. Gus asks again why he’s helping and that they need to trust each other to get through this. Just as Hunter is about to talk, they’re spotted by a scout. They capture Hunter and Gus. When the scouts realize they have the Golden Guard they free him and tell him that Belos has been worried sick looking for him. Flapjack begins pecking at the vines holding Gus as Hunter draws a glyph in abomination goo. He activates a flame and the two run off. The scouts chase after but another illusion hides Gus and Hunter.

Hunter begins to panic, breaking down on the ground saying he has to run and hide. Gus offers a hand and teaches him the breathing exercise Willow taught him in the past. Gus asks why he ran away from the Emperor’s Coven. He looks like he’s going to talk, then crosses his arms and puffs. Gus tells him he gets it but he promises he can be trusted and won’t mess with Hunter. He brushes Gus off again and Gus gives him space. They head out of the illusion.

Willow and Amity fight off scouts but their magic gets in the other’s way. Amity tells Willow she just got her back as a friend and wants to protect her. Another attack comes and Willow saves Amity. She tells Amity she doesn’t need her protection. She just wants her to see who she really is. Ed, Em and Bump disrupt the illusion for the two to join them in hiding.

Gus and Hunter arrive in the real part of the school when they spot Willow. She calls Gus Augustus and seems off. Hunter realizes it’s an imposter. “Willow” acts scared and Hunter says Willow would never be afraid of him from their time in Flyer Derby. Suddenly Adrian calls cut again and the illusion ends. They try to escape but Adrian catches them. A fake Belos appears but it’s just two scouts hidden in an illusion. Hunter orders them to stop as their superior. Adrian reminds them that Belos wants the runaway and to tie him up. Hunter fights them off but is put under by a sleeping spell.

Hunter awakes in the healing homeroom with other injured students and staff. Em and others perform healing spells. Bump says the flyer derby team saw him being dragged off and saved him, but he’s not convinced he’s innocent. The other students question him and don’t trust him. Hunter swears he’s not with them and that he was with Gus the whole time. He tells the group he Gus gave him a sandwich and he taught him a breathing thing. Willow hears that and instantly perks up, telling the group he’s telling the truth. Hunter tells Bump and the students that Adrian said he’d be in the gym. Amity says Willow can help fight and Willow says she can use the help. The two picked up on each others signals and are finally in sync. Bump begrudgingly agrees and comes up with a plan.

In the gym Adrian begins monologuing and notices Gus isn’t paying attention. He’s too busy being upset with himself for falling for an illusion of Willow. Just as Adrian is about to extract memories from Gus using an amplifier, a spell bursts through the room turning it back into the gym. Adrian turns his focus back to Gus who now has both eyes glowing. He begins to glow even stronger and more powerful.

Outside the gym, Bump approaches the scouts. They inform Bump the gym is closed but Bump says that as Principal he should be let through. They refuse and Bump takes his staff out and reveals the rest of the students behind him. The scouts charge. They all use their different forms of magic, spells and attacks to counter the scouts. They successfully knock out and capture the scouts but not before one triggers a button.

Hunter runs into the gym to find Gus fully engulfed by the blue light orb. The scouts and Adrian all cower and suffer through Gus’s memories and their own. Amity and Willow come in and Willow knows that Gus is trapped in his own head and the others are trapped with him. Just then a giant abomination controlled by a device wielding scout enters the gym. Amity says she has to talk to her parents about this, as it is their creation. Willow and Amity charge at the abomination and Willow tells Hunter to save Gus.

Hunter stammers but runs over to Gus and touches the blue light, getting pulled into Gus head. Hunter begins seeing images of his time in Belos’ head and grabs his own head. He pushes through and grabs Gus’s shoulder. Gus suddenly disappears. Hunter is in another illusion where Gus is questioning himself. Then another memory, and another. Gus is being tortured by his own thoughts. Hunter tries calling out to Gus. Hunter sits down next to Gus and begins sharing his own struggles, especially with trust. He spent his whole life thinking he was doing good and a part of him still wants to believe the lie. Hunter tells Gus to trust him and that he wouldn’t mess with Gus, calling back to when Gus tried to reach out to him earlier. He begins to try the breathing exercise Gus taught him but messes it up. Gus begins to laugh at his poor attempt, breaking the spell.

Gus sees Adrian’s amplifier lying on the ground, picks it up and pockets it. Amity and Willow have beat the abomination and Willow runs to Gus, hugging him, saying she’s so glad he’s okay. Willow thanks Hunter and pulls him into their hug.

The scouts retreat from the school and drag a still distraught and dazed Adrian back onto their ship. The scout warns Bump that Belos is going to hear about what happened. Bump counters that he’s sure Belos would be thrilled to hear a group of teenagers defeated them. The ship flies off.

Amity still can’t believe Gus took down a coven head. Gus is amazed he didn’t go down with him. The rest of the students approach Hunter asking what is going on at the castle and if it’s true that he abandoned the Coven. Ed asks the real question: if Hunter has ever sneezed with his mask on!! He answers each question. Everyone at the castle is heading to the head of the Titan for the day of Unity. Hunter thinks he left the coven. He also has sneezed in his mask before. Ed is grossed out by the answer. Hunter then reveals that Belos has been lying to everyone and that the Day of Unity isn’t about magic or the Titan. Willow and Amity hold each other’s hand. Hunter apologies and says there’s a lot to explain. Bump tells him that he better get started.

Now we know what Hunter has been up to since fleeing from the Owl House. The information was too much for him to handle and he hid in a place he knew Belos would never expect him to hide out in. It was great that Gus was the one to figure out Hunter’s hiding spot. It was a sad reveal, but I’m glad Hunter is doing relatively okay after the emotional reveals. Hunter growing closer with Willow and now Gus shows how well he fits in with the group. They’re all underdogs but their real power lies within, and by trusting those around them.

Hunter being associated with Belos has done a lot of damage to his credibility, but he has already show and proven that he can be helpful, especially now that he has revealed all the truth he has learned. Hopefully now alerting an adult like Bump will help ramp up the resistance and add more credibility to the resistance.

Learning about Gus’ past and how he got teased and bullied for being smart and young was sad to see play out. We did get to see a tender moment between him and Willow which sparked a strong friendship instantly. He’s grown into a more confident person as he was able to find close friends like Willow and Luz.

The way they portrayed his inner fears and his conflicted mind as a giant illusion was a great way of addressing how we all can get beat down by our own thoughts. Having his illusions become so powerful as a result and his eyes glowing was so cool to see play out. These kids are all becoming so strong in their own way when they’re not being forced into one kind of magic. The freedom to choose their own path only makes them stronger, preparing them to even take on a Coven head.

Adrian was a jerk. It was great to see him fall to Gus. It’ll be interesting to see how powerful Gus can be now that he has Adrian’s amplifier too! I’m certain it will come into play somehow as we get closer to the Day of Unity. Anything that can help them will be of use I’m sure!

Willow and Amity’s relationship seemed to be on rocky ground, but it turned out they just had to show each other how much they care and how strong they can be. I can see how both of them thought they were doing what was best to heal their friendship. The pose we got from their battle together was worth it all.

It didn’t even dawn on me until now that aside from Amity’s mention of the messages she got from Luz, we didn’t see Luz at all this entire episode! That might be a first! My guess is this was all playing out as Luz was returning with King and Hooty as Willow mentioned seeing the Owl House surrounded by scouts. We still don’t know what’s going on with Eda and Lilith inside the house. It feels like everything is starting to ramp up even more as more pieces of the puzzle begin to fill in ahead of the Day of Unity.

How are there only 3 episodes left in this season?!

The Owl House Season 2 airs Saturday mornings on Disney Channel. New episodes can be streamed on Disney Now.
