The girls returned into tonight’s season premiere, “Who’s in the Box?”, and struggled with the reality that not only is Alison is, but they buried someone at her funeral. Who could it be? Oh, and there’s that whole creepy Ezra Fitz thing, too.

When we last spent time with the girls during the Halloween special, we saw Caleb leave Rosewood, Ezra incriminate himself at A (OMG?!), and learned what we knew all along when they discovered Alison is actually alive. She confessed her fear of returning to Rosewood, specifically due to someone threatening her, and then Ezra stepped out of the shadows and she disappeared. Dun, dun, dun! So much drama!

Unfortunately the girls don’t have all the insight (or common sense, to be honest) and cann’t believe Alison is alive. They stood around in cute pajamas (I mean, how does Shay Mitchell look that good in sweat material) and constantly repeated, “Alison is alive! She is really alive!” They have no idea what to do, wonder if Alison is A, and then if they should talk to Jason. Yes, girls! You should always talk to Jason. I do miss his flawless face and hair so much.

(P.S. He’s starring on Lifetime’s Devious Maids. If you haven’t watched, do it immediately. You can thank me later.) Jason mentions continue because obvious Pretty Little Liars is trying to torture me. Life is so damn unfair.

Meanwhile, life has its other struggles as well. Hanna’s mother can’t find a job and a girl that looks just like Alison went missing at the same time she did. Mrs. DeLaurentis is still changing the sheets on Alison’s bed. Toby hotly drives his truck around town after returning from learning more about what happened to his mother. His hair is exceptionally tall. Do you think it’s because it’s filled with more secrets? And my absolute favorite is Mona driving Jenna’s car “because she won’t be needing it again.”

Oh, Mona.

Since school is also important, the girls have to go to Ezra Fitz’s English class. They are reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. How fitting! Ezra attractively apologizes for everything that happened with Malcolm and confesses he wants to get back with Aria… after graduation. But what about Jake, Aria?! What about Jake? Fortunately for Aria, she misses A challenging the girls on finding Alison. If A finds her, A gets to keep her.

Sounds like more of the same, eh?

Later, Hanna continues to stalk the friends of the missing girl. I cannot imagine I’d want to have coffee with some random girl, who says we have things (aka dead friends) in common. This just screams poor social skills all around yet Hanna is ready to go. No one wants to go with Hanna – smart girls! – but Caleb interrupts everything with his hair and pearly white smile. Kissy face time, y’all! Caleb’s kisses make Hanna brave and she and Emily meet with the dead girl’s BFFs. They drink fancy coffees and talk about their dead friends, and we learn nothing that we didn’t really already know or that is even relevant to Alison.

Sidenote: Does it really matter who is in the damn box? Alison is alive, so let whoever you buried rest in peace and don’t dig up further trouble with A. Or maybe I just say this because I’m too lazy to go running around asking questions that aren’t going to get me anywhere. Hell, I’m too lazy to do most of the things these girls do, especially make myself look that good every day.

Meanwhile, Toby and Spencer are enjoying this gorgeous day in Rosewood by blackmailing the folks at Radley to admit his mother’s death was not a suicide. Mr. Fitz and Mona had a creepy talk about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and not pushing people too far. Mrs. DeLaurentis gave Ashley a job because Alison came to her in her dreams and told her to do it.

Yeah. I can’t even deal with this shit show at this point.

Just when Hanna’s life takes a turn for the good, Caleb leaves her to go back to that show that no one’s watching. This displeases Hanna greatly. Don’t worry, girl. He’ll be back in due time. Spencer’s dad is all, “Let’s shut down Radley forever!” and they miss the subtext of all the secrets he surely has locked in that building.

And just in case we haven’t had enough of Creepy Fitz, he whisks Aria away to his “friend’s” cabin that he checks on whenever that friend is out of town. Red Flag #1: the cabin was conveniently offered to Ezra after their breakup. Red Flag #2: Ezra’s practically begging you to take him back after all the nonsense that’s happened between you two. Red Flag #3: The Mr. Hyde eyes Ezra is giving you when he kisses you.

Ezra wasn’t creepy until the Halloween special. Is he creepier now because we know of this supposed A connection? Or is he creepier now because the writers are heavy-handedly making him this way? This is not the warm, charming, and adorably smiling Ezra we’re used to having. This is a guy shuffling his feet, looking over his shoulder, and staring at everything so damn intensely. So obviously, Mr. Hyde has shoved Dr. Jekyll into a closet and Ezra is A) a twin (OMG TWO EZRAS IS LIKE CHRISTMAS) or B) has split personalities, one of whom wants to love Aria and the other who wants to keep her close and kill her.

Oh, you think that sounds ridiculous? You shut your mouth because everything on this show is ridiculous, people.

As if matters aren’t worse, Aria just throws Hot Jake to the side and beds Ezra, who has a secret floorboard compartment in cabin. It’s probably where Aria is going to end up when she discovers it.

Hanna’s brokenhearted when Caleb rolls out of town and reveals Ali’s diary that she stole forever ago. Apparently, Ali wrote really mean things about all of them and Hanna’s so surprised.

And with that we conclude the winter premiere of Pretty Little Liars aka a long and confusing hour of television that could greatly benefit from Jason’s hair. What did you think about the episode? Who do you think is in the box? What is going on with Ezra? And what do you think is in the floorboard? Body parts, photographs, locks of Alison’s hair? Share your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll see you here next week.

The Foster family returns with its winter premiere on Jan. 13, and we’ve got a list of things you can expect in the premiere.

When we left the Fosters, Callie had run away with Wyatt after Jude caught her kissing Brandon, basically ruining their chances of being adopted by Stef and Lena. Jesus and Mariana’s favorite girl, Lexi was getting prepared to be taken out of the country by her illegal immigrant family, all of them unaware that she won’t be returning. And all of this was happening against the backdrop of Stef and Lena’s wedding – the TV wedding of 2013, to be honest.

With that refresher, let’s jump into what you can expect in the winter premiere.

1. The episode picks up the morning after Stef and Lena’s wedding.
The family surrounds the table for one of their usual breakfasts as they discuss the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Can I take a second to tell you how much I’ve missed their family meals? It’s just so, so perfect like everything else with this amazing, incredible, life-changing show. That’s a lot of descriptive words, but I am only giving credit where its due.

2. You’ll be Team Jude and Brandon by the end of the episode.
Jude isn’t really on the Callie and Brandon bandwagon, and you can’t really blame him. This is Jude’s chance at finally having the family he has always dreamed of and Brandon and Callie’s kiss ripped it all away. There’s a bit of a heated confrontation between Jude and Brandon, who makes a confession that will make every shipper’s heart race.

Later, Jude breaks down and Brandon is there to comfort him. They’re already bros for life, you guys, and it’s just the sweetest thing.

3. Wyatt remains the best friend ever.
My favorite thing about Wyatt is that while he gives Callie room to breathe, he also calls her on her crap and tries to keep her from being her own worst enemy. Her main defense mechanism is to run away. Wyatt respects that, but he also won’t let her hurt herself in the process. This is what makes their friendship so real and believable. Let’s just hope that Callie forgives Wyatt for what he does

4. Jesus and Mariana vie for for Lexi’s attention… and later say goodbye.
Mariana accidentally learns Lexi is leaving for good, leading to a tearful goodbye between the trio. Keep your tissues on standby. Bonus points to Jesus for sweet declarations that brings on all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings.

5. While Lena and Stef search for Callie, Mike holds things down at home.
Mike went on a somewhat soul-searching journey last season, coming to terms with his place not only in his son’s lives, but in Lena and Stef’s family as well. There was a bit of a drinking problem tossed in as well. Watching Mike step in and take care of the kids is so heartwarming and reminds us of the shows overall message: love makes a family. Mike’s as much a part of these kids’ lives as Lena and Stef. How can you not love that? It’s also funny to see Mike deal with the kids different needs and basic things like feeding them and getting them to school on time.

6. Stef and Lena remain flawless.
The two struggle to come to terms with why Callie left. Their personalities clash in the most beautiful way that just reminds you why these two belong together. They balance one another through thick and thin and fear that maybe they made a mistake with Callie.

7. Callie reaches out to her father.
Thanks to Wyatt’s encouragement, Callie begins to think about her father and tries to find him with unexpected results.

8. Callie reaches the end of her rope.
With no way to get a job or no place to live – not to mention the whole thing – Callie begins to fall apart and gets herself into even bigger trouble than you’d ever imagine.

The Fosters season premiere airs Jan. 13 on ABC Family.

The annual Pretty Little Liars Halloween special, “Grave New World,” finds the girls scrambling around Ravenswood in hopes of finding Alison.

It is Founder’s Day in Ravenswood, y’all, which means partying on graves in fancy gowns and tall hats… and girdles. Aria gets a call from Ezra warning her to be careful, convenient since he’s also in Ravenswood, following her, and dressed in a super cute costume. Hello there, Mr. Fitz!

Meanwhile, Caleb is on a bus to Ravenswood with some bald, creepy guy. Apparently they are the only two people interested in going to this creepy town. He dozes off and wakes to some girl who has about 15,000 questions. She’s hungry, also thinks the guy in the back is creepy, and is headed to Ravenswood as well. Her parents are dead and her living situation is complicated. Sounds familiar, eh? Looks like she and Caleb might have fallen from the same tree.

Caleb is still stuck on the bus, counseling his newfound friend about hoping for a happily foster ever after. She gets spooked by him and almost leaves the bus until she realizes creepy guy is getting off at the next stop. Viewers, meet Miranda.

Back at Founder’s Day, Mrs. Grunswald warns the girls that it’s time to hang their heads and go back to Rosewood. And this is where the girls begin to get separated. They just never learn. Aria takes off to follow someone in a white gown, who isn’t the woman they’re looking for, while Hanna is distracted by twin girls in a red dresses, who keep disappearing and reappearing. When they find one another again, they see a redcoat and chase her in hopes that it’s Ali… but she disappears.

Sidenote: Thank you to whoever at ABC Family decided to let Chris Hemsworth plug whatever it is he’s plugging. Forgive me, but when I see his face, I can’t focus on the words coming out of his mouth.

And back on Pretty Little Liars

The girls discover a secret crypt and head underground in hopes of finding the redcoat stand in. Once inside, the door closes behind them and they’re trapped. Raise your hand if you’re surprised by this turn of events? Yeah, I didn’t think so. There are a bunch of creepy statues and magical wind… and then Hanna is gone! This is all fine and dandy until we catch up with Hanna, who finds help written on the wall in red – blood obviously – and surrounded by rats.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a girl run so fast in a ballgown in my life. She finds another door and busts inside, unaware that Gas Mask dude is in the room as well. Remember him from the PLL summer finale? Creepy! She stalks through the house, desperate for a cell connection. There is no struggle quite like trying to get bars on your cell phone, is there? The struggle is real, Hanna. The struggle is real.

When her search fails, she finds a rotary phone, which takes like an entire year to dial. If you’re old enough, you remember those damn phones. They sucked. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t work and as if that’s not bad enough, Hanna is now trapped in the phone booth. (Really, Hanna, did you think it was going to work in the first place? Girl, get it together.)

There’s a bunch of flashing lights outside the booth and then the phone rings. Of course, Hanna answers and hears some old time music. And this is where I take a moment to point out that nothing in the first 30 minutes of this show has made any sense. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And if you think differently, feel free to argue with me in the comments. I dare you.

Meanwhile, Hanna’s boyfriend has arrived in Ravenswood with Miranda. They’ve swapped numbers and everything, so they’re like totally BFFs for life and stuff. They part ways and Miranda ends up at the very house the girls are in, unaware they’re on the other side of the house and hearing Ali saying she that her friends will find her. Little do they know that Hanna has actually found her! Ali’s face presses against the glass of the booth… and then Gas Mask snatches her away… and then Miranda opens the door. I mean, WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?

Hanna is insanely bitchy to Miranda, who is clearly non-threatening, but doesn’t bat an eye when she says her name is Hanna, interesting since she just got off a bus with Caleb, who talked about his girlfriend. Turns out they are in her uncle’s house and it looks like he’s in the coffin business. Insert random flashback to Miranda being in the same room between her parents coffins as her uncle asks for her forgiveness… and then she gets all blabbermouth and tells Hanna about it. This is just awkward and Hanna does not have time for your dead parent problems. And for the record, neither do I.

Thankfully, we move back to Aria (and Emily, but no one likes her, so I pretend she doesn’t exist), who continue to hear Ali’s voice. Emily contemplates jumping out the window and I’m all, “DO IT, EMILY. DON’T TEASE ME,” but before she can the window falls and makes me wish her head had been under it.

Oh! I just realized we lost Spencer. The girls may have mentioned that, but now that I see that she’s lost, it suddenly clicks. Gas Mask attacks her and Spencer holds her own, but ends up on the ground with him standing over her with a pair of gardening sheers.

(Hee. I honestly never thought I’d have the opportunity to use that GIF. Thank you, PLL, for making my dreams come true.)

The girls find Spencer, who is suddenly awake – how convenient. They hear someone calling for help and find a recorder playing back Ali’s voice. Mrs. Grunswald is not pleased that they’ve found it. She is not surprised to learn that Ali was in the house, which she’s a caretaker of, but says the tape of Ali’s voice was stolen. Mrs. G has a sudden OMFG psychic moment and says that one of the girls has been touched by the one Ali fears. (Hey, Ezra Fitz, Mrs. G means you!)

Meanwhile, Hanna has reunited with Caleb, but they aren’t exactly running into one another’s arms because Miranda is finding her a grave with her face on it. Hey, Ravenswood spinoff ploy. Miranda refuses to go back to Rosewood with them, so Hanna tells Caleb to stay and help her. Isn’t that just the sweetest thing ever? It’s not all sweet though because Miranda finds a grave with Caleb’s face and name on it not long after Hanna is gone. Whoa?! Say what?!

Hanna reunites with the girls back at the car, who are struggling with spare tire problems when a car pulls up – Ezra! And this is where things really hit the fan aka get totally confusing. Ezra is all heyyyy, let me drive you home and drop you off because I’m the concerned boyfriend and totally not A and totally not creepy. At home, the girls find redcoat in the woods, who turns around and reveals herself as Ali. The bitch is alive, y’all! The reveal finally happened!

Unfortunately, Ali only stays long to ask Hanna what she told her in the hospital (“Telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time is how I ended up where I am.”) and then disappears because Ezra comes back with Aria’s phone… and this basically confirms Mrs. G’s vision. Are the writers really going there? Are they? Pretty please with a cherry on top? PLEASE. (I still don’t believe they will. I just can’t put that much faith in the writers.)

And that concludes this year’s Halloween special. Thank you and goodnight. Pretty Little Liars will return January 7 at 8 pm ET/ST.
