Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. Their father Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire. A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming. As these strange new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy must come together one last time – and risk upsetting the shaky peace they’ve all endured so much to secure – to finally set things right.

With Aaliyah’s creative sensibilities and Alfonso’s business mind, a safe space for planning and hosting events was born. Alfonso’s wife, Kimberly, and son, Alfonso Jr. (A.J.), join the event planning team. Even Aaliyah has one of their chosen family members, Mia, join the team; she is a jack of all trades – so she thinks. Although the new-and-improved “Lucille’s” brings everyone together, their affairs end up causing a mess bigger than a college frat party.

Netflix has renewed The Vince Staples Show for a second season. Who’s Vince Staples? Well, that’s a tricky question. He’s kind of famous, but he’s not. He’s kind of rich, but he’s not. A period of strikes and medical complications led to the delay of the much anticipated third season of Max’s Hacks. The time off only helped to make the third season feel more timely than ever, impactful and even more fully realized. Season three is a bigger ode to the world of comedy and it continues to highlight its love of pop culture as it shines through the whole season. It never loses sight of its core, crafting some of the best television of the year.

Following the release of her comedy special, Deborah Vance finds herself in the next stage of her long and storied comedy career. Her team and management look to propel her even further, standing by her side, all in on advancing her career even more. Like magnets, Deborah and Ava yet again find their way back to each other, but with them both realizing things can’t remain the same as they were before completely, or they could completely repel one another.

Ava and Deborah’s deep connection leads to them rubbing off on each other even more. The chemistry is electric when they are together on screen. Watching them banter back and forth or bicker amongst themselves is a sight to behold. I really enjoyed seeing the growth both characters have gone through based on their past and underlying mutual respect for one another. They are still the same brash and stubborn people but somehow have picked up on each others charms, strengths and weaknesses. The results vary with each engagement, sometimes complicating their often fragile connection. The back and forths between the two, lobbing insults and jokes at one another, brought so many smiles. It’s like family reuniting. We see their unabashed emotions amplified. They’re constantly deflecting their true feelings and taking out frustrations on one another. It is truly writing, acting and comedy at its best.

The series continues to thrive in this almost silent confidence where characters are so fully realized and lived in that they feel completely real, existing in our real world. It’s almost as if we’re witnessing a documentary on these characters because of how believable they come across. There are really no weak links this season. Every character has their purpose in the bigger picture and their stories pay off within the arcs of the season and series as a whole so far.

Jean Smart continues to give a performance like no other. There is so much nuance she brings to the role. Deborah is constantly having to deal with her age, relationships, the complexities of being a woman in the industry, society, family dynamics and so much more. All of this weighs heavy on her and Jean Smart navigates them all with such finesse.

Hannah Einbinder feels even more comfortable in the role of Ava this season. She brings more intensity, more emotion and carries her own against Jean Smart. You can feel Ava’s growth with each situation she finds herself in. There is more confidence, while still finding the cracks in her character which brings out more vulnerability.

The smallest gripe I had last season remains where some of the supporting cast still could use more attention as Deborah and Ava continue to dominate the overall story. Marcus’ arc could have benefited from more attention but it completely makes sense in the three season arc of his story. There are times I wish they all had bigger storylines to round out more complete storylines rather than little bits here and there. But still, all the little pieces come together offering more season long satisfaction. While wanting more, their placement through the season is vital. Remove one and the scene wouldn’t land as well. In group scenes where Deb’s team is all assembled it is comedy gold. It reminds me of some of the funniest Veep scenes where there are no weak links to the comedy bit and everyone is fully in the moment. Even Kayla finds a bigger role this season with a much welcomed payoff. As always, the guest cast is once again impressive.

Over the course of the nine episodes, one of the more interesting themes was the idea of sacrifice and compromise. What are you willing to do to achieve a goal or position? Where is the line that you are not willing to cross, and if you do cross it, what does that mean for you? There are multiple characters struggling with these ideas throughout the season. Some take the whole season to reach, while others have sudden realizations about who they have become and ponder if it is time to make a change. The theme has been present throughout the series, but everyone really has a come to moment where they decide to go for it, to take a bold risk, or even step away for their own well being.

The instant the season ended, it left me craving more. It is set up where there must be a fourth season because the bold choices that characters make. Each will set up for an even juicer potential new season. The stakes have been raised and I have faith we will see it all play out.

Bold, emotional and cleverly funny, season three will entertain everyone who chooses to continue on this extraordinary ride.

Season three of Hacks premieres May 2 on Max with two episodes weekly.

Anime series T-P BON premieres May 2 on Netflix. After Bon accidentally intervenes in a Time Patrol case, he must join Agent Ream in saving innocent lives from the past – while watching history unfold. Season two will premiere July 17.

Prime Video has ordered Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? starring Travis Kelce. The 20-episode order is a spinoff of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? The series offers a fun, new twist on the premise of the original popular format. Each game will welcome an adult contestant who will rely on a classroom full of celebrities from stage, screen, and sports to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects, pulled from elementary curriculum, in an effort to win a $100,000 prize. They are not competing against the stars… they’re enlisting their help and, in some cases, can even “cheat” off of them. And on the final question, worth $100,000, the contestant selects one celebrity to discuss the answer with before locking in. The final question is always at the 6th-grade level.

Apple TV+ has ordered Down Cemetery Road. The thriller series will star Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Tucker becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm. Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.

With new friends, amazing food, haute fashion, and a best friend she can now only talk to on a screen, Lucy discovers what the meaning of “When in Rome” is all about. As Lucy learns to adapt to her new city, new school, and new life, she’s also navigating through the growing pains of being a teenager, and the additional challenge of her best friend, Kyla, being 6,000 miles away.

Margaret Qualley will no longer be playing Amanda Knox in the hulu limited series. The eight episode series will cast a new actress ahead of production in October.

Who’s Afraid of a Cheap Old House? premieres May 14 on HGTV. Led by historic preservationist Elizabeth Finkelstein and her husband Ethan Finkelstein, a budget-conscious historic build expert, the series will appeal to bargain hunters who dream of owning a classic home affordably priced at under $150,000 with features like antique fireplaces, original wood floors, leaded glass windows, vintage appliances and inviting front porches. During the eight-episode season, the Finkelsteins will take potential buyers on tours of two listings – from traditional styles such as Colonial Revival, Craftsman, Tudor and Queen Anne to out-of-the-box ones like a church and a firehouse – that are brimming with history and unique architecture.

Taylor vs. Serrano 2 will stream live on Netflix July 20 from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. It will be the co-main event of Paul vs. Tyson, with their rematch to be contested for the undisputed super lightweight championship as Taylor puts all her super lightweight belts on the line

Backed by the Bros premieres June 5 on HGTV. Home renovation and real estate superstars Drew and Jonathan Scott will put their professional reputation, connections and resources on the line to help struggling property investors find success. The ten-episode season will show another side of the Brothers – proven real estate moguls who know a good investment when they see one – as they relinquish total control of renovations to advise bewildered entrepreneurs, short-term rental owners and residential developers on high-stakes investment properties. To get each project across the finish line in an unforgiving housing market, the popular twins will back investors with their professional expertise, experience, invaluable insights and top-notch resources – gratis.

Production on the second season of High Tides has begun. Prepare for a new season with more drama, romance, and adventures from familiar faces such as Pommelien Thijs, Willem De Schryver, Eliyha Altena and Anna Drijver. The returning cast will be joined by new faces, who will be revealed at a later date. Do the youngsters escape from the world of destruction in which they grew up? And do their ruthless parents still get away with everything when Alex’s grandmother comes to put things in order?

Each scintillating episode follows the elite staff as they try to provide luxurious, once-in-a-lifetime, Vanderpump-curated experiences for guests while dealing with rivalries, romances, and raucous misadventures that come from living and working together 24/7. From firework-filled proposals and opulent events at the chateau to unbelievable excursions and outrageous confrontations in the French countryside, each day at the Chateau brings nonstop heartfelt, humorous, and heated moments, from staff and guests alike. All the while, Lisa evaluates whether this is the team to make her “pop up” experience a permanent reality and add to her ever-growing empire. But will this unparalleled-yet unorthodox-crew be able to rise to the occasion and meet both the guests’ and Lisa’s great expectations?

The Spiderwick Chronicles premieres April 19 on The Roku Channel. Season two of Extraordinary premieres March 6 on hulu. The new season picks up where season one spectacularly left off, following Jen on her powers journey as she enrols as a client at the power clinic. Jen soon discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped, and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing either. Ex-cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord has had an unexpected revelation about his past, and Kash and Carrie are attempting to be totally mature and dignified about their break-up, which is not easy when they’re still living under the same roof. It seems that Jen and the gang are dealing with new levels of adulting and chaos that none of them are prepared for.

CBS has announced the cast for the upcoming 36th season of The Amazing Race. The 13 new teams will embark on the journey of a lifetime March 13. Host Phil Keoghan kicks off the RACE from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where the 13 new teams must participate in a traditional Mexican rodeo and lasso their way to the finish line without coming in last. The stakes are high because there are no non-elimination legs, and the team to finish last in each leg will be eliminated. Along the route, Racers will go paragliding in Colombia, rally car racing in Argentina, and visit two new countries – swimming through waterfalls in the Dominican Republic and visiting music superstar Rihanna’s childhood home in Barbados.

Jay Pharoah will host The Quiz with Balls this summer on Fox. Pitting brains against balls, while combining a high-stakes quiz show with a large-scale physical competition, each episode of The Quiz with Balls features two families competing for $100,000 in a “battle of the balls.” Standing on a high platform over a glistening pool, they must all work together as they face a multiple-choice quiz where each answer is allocated to a spot with a giant ball positioned up behind it. If the correct answer is chosen, the ball rolls down and stops just before colliding with the player… if the answer is wrong, the massive ball rapidly descends and mercilessly whacks them into the pool below. The more players each team loses, the harder the questions get. The longer they last, the more money they bank, until one “dry” family member plays the final round for the $100,000 Grand Prize.
